Why are California democrats shooting themselves in the foot via some of their members stupidity?

This year we have had one state senator convicted of perjury and voter fraud, one indicted for accepting $100k in bribes, one indicted for gunrunning and last night Ben Hueso was arrested for drunk driving after driving the wrong way on a one way street. To add to Hueso's stupidity he had earlier been photographed drinking in the capital rotunda with other members of the Hispanic caucus. We used to have a super majority in the senate but Wright, Calderon and Yee have been suspended, I don't know what will happen to Hueso. Why are they going out of their way to enable and encourage the republicans?

1. Hubris and arrogance aren't limited to republicans

And it isn't just CA Dems that find it difficult to control their baser instincts.

Think Anthony Weiner, John Edwards, even Clinton.

But it is so frustrating to lose a super majority over things like these, who knows what the republicans are going to block and what harm they can do.

3. A few years ago a state senator was arrested drunk and driving the wrong way on a one way,

in his state vehicle, with a young man he picked up a the local gay bar, who was likely a professional, which was news to his wife. He was a Republican, fwiw.

They all act like they're on spring break while they're in Sacramento. Go to Frank Fats or Ella at lunchtime if you want to see a bunch of dickbags in bad suits drinking their lunches and generally acting like the cast of Mad Men. Go to Faces if you want to see them all get wasted after hours.

I actually had a state senator introduce himself to me as "I'm so-and-so, I'm a senator from wherever, and I'm not an asshole, I haven't been here long enough."

It seems like it's all Democrats being dickbags right now because the Republicans can't get elected for love or money. It's math.
