GOTV in 2014, such that Democratic establishment donors, pundits, and politicians see a 2014 turnout so big... as to create a wave election. And make them nervous.
Hell... I'd start a viral social media campaign right now that started something like this...
"Me And My Friends Are Coming Out To Vote Democrat In The 2014 Mid-Terms... And Here's Why!"
Publish on social media... giving several reasons why it is crucial...
Supreme Court
War
Safety Net
Student Loans
A Helping Hand
And, in this fantasy...
They would also get to post their expectations... what they want in return for the support...
And I would hope that if the response/vote/victory were significant...
It would put some fear into the, oh so confident, status quo.

(43,891 posts)1. Wave elections have never upset the status quo - unless it's the status quo of the opposition party. With Hillary so popular with Democrats, how would your proposed wave election be different?
2. Your social media plan - based on my news feeds, it's been happening since social media began. How are your social media skills better?

The Ice Bucket for ALS only got a little more than a million dollars last year.
Got over 31 million this year.
Quite the increase, no ???
Plus... we are leaving this world in the hands of young people... and they are all day long communicating and discussing on their smartphones... that's why the "Ice Bucket" came to fruition this year.
Seems like some younger folk could start a movement for the 2014 Election... and beyond.

(20,176 posts)every town/precinct has a local Democratic committee. Join it. When you say "The DNC is coopted." you're talking about an organization made up of people from local committees.
It's really easy to change the system if you can get 10 people to start showing up for the Democratic Town Committee meeting...in most places, that's a bloc sufficient to control the town committee on things like choosing delegates to the state committee. It's enough to be largely in control of the local platform. If you did it in your town and another liberal DUer did it in their adjacent town and another did it in their town and so on...you'd have a groundswell. You'd be positioned to vote on the membership and delegates of the state committee to the DNC and control the platform at the state committee. Those delegates write the national platform and steer the DNC.
What Willy is suggesting is good and important...but it's only half the solution...and it's the harder half. It'd be easy using large political group-sites like DU and DKos to build coalitions to radically resteer the DNC. Nationally, it would only take about 10000 DUers organizing joiners to their local committee. That seems like a lot, but it's not...it's less than 5% of the daily users here.

(22,000 posts)I am overseas and it's hard to get those who aren't excited about elections to vote. I will start posting more links to where people can register to vote and contact their county clerk to make sure their ballot is sent.
We have a large holiday here in September and October and fortunately this year it comes earlier than it usually does. I worry when the holiday is in late September or early October whether I'll get my ballot on time.
