"Bob McDonnell’s plea for sympathy at trial is riddled by rationalizations, contradictions"

From WAPO's By Robert McCartney

RICHMOND — Poor Bob McDonnell. He’s so aggrieved, so misunderstood. His wife yelled at him so much that he was too scared to ask her to give back $50,000 she received from a businessman, even though he was “extremely upset” with her. (What a shrew.)

His sons weren’t much better. They accepted expensive golf clubs and bags from the same businessman and wouldn’t return them, even though their father told them that the unsolicited presents were “a little much.” (Stubborn brats.)

Now the mean Justice Department thinks he did something wrong by taking so much largesse from the man who unmistakably hoped to get official favors in return.

Finally, at the end of his initial round of testimony Friday, McDonnell said dramatically that he didn’t blame his wife for what happened. It seemed calculated to score points as a man who took responsibility for his actions.
But the former governor spent all Thursday morning detailing how the whole thing was almost entirely his wife’s doing, because she acted behind his back and alienated his affections with her fury.

1. The soap opera

My wife and I almost daily have our catch-up on the day's events. We aren't gleeful about what has happened to their marriage we just revel in the tragedy of a self righteous holier than though sexist pig.

2. Yesterday they played a video at his trial of McDonnell on Hannity lecturing us Democrats

on the need to be fiscally responsible.

I want the POS to spend some serious time in jail. It is the only way the GOP will learn.
Why Cuccinelli isn't on trial too is something I'll never understand.

PS. I don't buy his marital problem claims. Those problems didn't appear to start until the start of the trial.

4. Yes I read here about the Hannity video

I was shocked!Hannity is actually relevant in the real world??

Yes the marital thing (The priest Bob is living with got caught with another man at a "bawdy place in Norfolk and got moved up to the Richmond Parrish) appears to be a foundation for his defense.

3. I believe that whole story about his marriage being over

is a well rehearsed lie.
