(135,425 posts)and those ads put shoes on baby's feet, you see.
If you talk about Koch in a thread, you're going to see Koch ads. If you talk about Ann Coulter in a thread, you might see an ad for that idiot's latest book. Google doesn't "care" that this is a site for Democrats and Progressives, they're stupid, and they throw things at us that 'seem to fit' based on our conversations.
There is a way you can get rid of the ads entirely. You can become a site donor--if you don't have Paypalphobia, it's an easy process, so I am told.
On DU2, an ad involving a large purple sex toy used to pop up with some frequency. We'd sometimes joke about it, which ensured repeat visits by the very ad. Some people would get all "harrumph-y" about it, but it was an ad so lame that it was, in an odd way, funny.

(294 posts)and tell their membership, it's okay, the Dems are just pouring in wasted money and are suckers and we can't do anything about it anyway. Just pay up!
Hmmm, probably not.

(61,186 posts)If you pay attention, you can correlate the ad's you see where you have been and even what stories you click on here on DU.
If you read a lot of posts related to the GOP, Koch or Rove, you will see ad's from those groups or companies related to them. You can thank Google and such companies for this technology.
I wouldn't worry about donating to DU. I currently am not a star member but have been for many years and have not seen any evidence that any of my information from DU is sold.
