Group demands removal of Sanford Police Chief's photo

Read the comments to see what we're dealing with.

The Florida Civil Rights Association is asking Sanford city officials to remove Chief Bill Lee's photo from their government website and building because he is no longer in charge.

The Orlando-based group said changing police leadership was a step forward to restoring community trust but should be taken further.

The group's president J. Willie David said that while interim chief Captain Darren Scott is the face of the department, Lee's image should be removed.

"The City needs to implement this change until a permanent police chief is sworn in by Sanford mayor," he said, calling the photo a slight against Scott and part of a "culture of indifference" toward minorities.
