(7,822 posts)Why exactly was this an issue? Other than people just flat out hating Obama? What was the supposed horror of Obama wearing a tan suit? I don't get it.

(7,822 posts)I get people not liking the suit. Fine. But it seemed like this was more than that. But then, I never understood people outraged that Michelle Obama suggested drinking more water might not be a bad thing.

(24,876 posts)And I'm a fashionista. Who are these people upset by this? Forgive me, for I do not watch corporate media. Is this a real "thing"? If it is, what does it mean? I take clothes seriously, but this is just ridiculous.

(114,579 posts)It's horrible. Hell sounds like a vacation spot in comparison.
Tan suits out of linen blends are pretty traditional for summer lightweight suits. Once upon a time and not that long ago, it would be seersucker or white for summer wear.
As long as it wasn't a polyester leisure suit from the 70s, most suits look fine. It's just not a great idea to stay in wool in dark colors even in air conditioning in DC in the summer. You have to go out sometime and you will melt into a puddle if you do, the suit soaked with sweat.
Calista241
(5,633 posts)But I still wouldn't be caught dead in a tan suit.
Everyone has some terrible clothes they wear. Making any kind of deal out of the Presidents clothes, is just idiotic. Except Bush in his Crocs, that I just can't overlook.

(18,497 posts)Face it.
Obama could save a toddler from a bear and Fox News would accuse him of starving wildlife.
And I think tan is just fine for late summer.

(39,961 posts)has a shit ton of things on his plate. That said, who ever picked this suit out for him should be relegated to picking out his underwear.
Additionally, I have no idea why I am compelled to comment on a thread discussing the suit President Obama is wearing like he is a super model and not the leader of the free world.
Really?
Hating on his suit, really?

If you're not Presidenting while wearing a coat that looks like it was made out of a cheap couch, you're not doing it right.

(13,620 posts)what is the media saying?
I was watching a program when it was interrupted by the news conference.
When he walked out in the beige suit, I just thought, "That's different. He looks great!"
And the news station didn't even mention the suit after the conference. In fact, he cut the questions, and then came back to answer one more question someone shouted out after he walked off. Has a President ever done that???
Whatever IS being spewed is just the RW'rs grasping for more straws. They just can't corner the President on anything.

(38,025 posts)I loved my dad (very dark complexion) in a tan suit. My husband (Mediterranean complexion) looks good in one too. I'm seriously NOT getting the Republican issue with President Obama looking good.

(1,098 posts)President Clinton and President Carter also make people's blood boil.
Let's not forget that conservatives liked to dismiss President Carter as the worst President ever, before we elected President Obama, while we saw the rise of many far-right movements during President Clinton time in office, because conservatives were convinced he would outlaw gun ownership and/or hand sovereignty of the United States over to the United Nations.

(1,996 posts)A black man in a tan suit would have heads exploding all over the country. It seems these guys have nothing else to do than critique the Presidents wardrobe. Maybe they should try working for a change. If they did, they wouldn't have time to audition for Joan Rivers job at fashion police.
