whose motto centers around peace and non-violence. Or Tibetan Buddhists. Or Pennsylvania Amish. Would any of those groups not been ethnically cleansed from the West Bank as were the Palestinians?
No. It wouldn't have mattered a god-damned bit to Israel -- Israel would have come up with some pretense to provoke a war and steal their land, no matter what. There would have been English Quakers instead of Arabs penned up like animals in Gaza while the West Bank was systematically being stolen out from underneath them. Why? Simply because Israel wants all that land for itself.
What is it going to take for our US tax dollars to stop funding Israel's land-grabbing actions?

(18,290 posts)The entire point of both the 1948 and 1967 wars was to force the Palestinians out of Palestine and then take their land. Historical propaganda has mythologized the threat supposedly imposed by the attacking Arab armies, but those armies were always too incompetent and disorganized to ever succeed at getting rid of the Jews, and the Jews knew it. The Israelis wanted the so-called "wars of extermination" to take place; the wars were the great opportunities to kick the Palestinians out and create/expand Israel.

(39,171 posts)that "Palestinian" land was occupied by Arabs for 19 years - not bad for incompetent Arab armies. In 67 the Israelis told the King of Jordan that they could keep the West Bank if he stayed out of the war. The King said "the die has been cast" and attacked. The rest is history.
So let me get right - there would have been no wars what so ever if Israel had not provoked them?

(3,860 posts)After a peaceful response to the withdrawal from Gaza, Israel would have proceeded with it's original plan to then withdraw from the West Bank.
It was the cross border terrorist attacks and rocket launches from Gaza that threw everything into reverse.
