Civil wars in Palestine/Israel, Syria, Iraq, Russia, Libya. Obama is holding back the dogs of war.

Last edited Sun Aug 31, 2014, 11:24 PM - Edit history (1)

I get that it is media and pundit open season on the Nobel Peace Prize winning tan President, but is it asking too much that Obama have the undivided support of his own freaking party?

It is not OK for Presidenting while tan to be treated by the white media just like walking or sitting while tan is treated by the white police.

The hardly rested commander in chief spent most of his limited annual vacation fending off childish lampooning from the left and the right for two weeks, only to return early to be greeted by a somber critique of his summer tan suit....rapidly followed by "how come we can't use our war toys?"

Followed this week by the mass media deciding it was a good time to trot out the usual parade of discredited politicians and irrelevant pundits to compare Obama to Putin as if what mattered most now is a personal popularity contest and trading male fashion tips. Because conflating media pressure with public pressure, whatever that is, is what they do.

I see a liberal, precedent setting, recession and deficit and lie slaying man of peace who needs his party's 110% support.

Anything less is a betrayal.

Cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war or give the tan man a little help from his friends?

And how does the near all white WH press corps have any business giving fashion advise to any tan man? Let alone the twice elected tan President.

Seems the WH press corps and the mass media force is not much different in diversity than the Ferguson police force.

2) if Obama were really serious about "holding back the dogs of war" there he'd cut Israel off completely and tell them they won't get another penny from the USA until they withdraw from the settlements and negotiate a realistic peace with the Palestinians. The USA's continued support for and enabling of Israel despite their failures to comply with myriad obligations under international law re the occupied territories only serves to make the situation worse (because the Israeli government know that whatever they do the USA will still support them).

massive veto proof margins. Anyone who pays attention to Congress knows it.

It's, frankly, amazing that POTUS managed to get the Senate to back off new sanctions on Iran that Bibi & AIPAC wanted which would've blown up the Iranian nuke negotiations.

American support for Israel not only contributes to the ongoing problems there, but also undercuts the USA's claims to any moral authority on other issues. For instance: "we don't want Iran to get nukes! But we won't say anything about Israel obtaining nukes." And "we want to hold Iran/North Korea/etc to their obligations under international law but we will ignore Israel not complying with theirs", and so on.

Contemptuous & insulting to a POTUS and Congress will support them.

However, Bibi has now made a point of aligning with the Republican Party & that's going to have bad long term implications. The reason they always had this Congress escape hatch was because they made a concerted point of being bipartisan. Bibi has blown that up & it may not have implications for tomorrow but it will down the road.

One of the scariest things I've read lately was the Israeli polling showing how right wing young Israelis are - they are completely going the opposite direction of young people here.

Along with just how right wing the entire country of Israel has shifted. It's really bad news for the future.

He is keeping the war dogs on a short leash.

I think Mrs. Obama has a great deal to do with that - pure speculation? Sure.

It is quite incredible that his peacekeeping does not have 110% support of the party, but then we all know how the MIC is like an Ebola in DC.

I support him 200%. And I hope he keeps it up. Also, I loved him in his tan suit. Looked like he just walked out of a GQ magazine.
Only a bully child-like individual would find anything wrong with his tan suit.
