someone's home and took their personal belongings.
Just because it's online, that doesn't mean that it's fair game for stealing.
the banking industry stole trillions of dollars from the american taxpayers by strong arming congress into signing TARP.
our entire nation is build on broken treaties with natives. so we essentially stole their land.
nikola tesla had his idea's stolen by thomas edison who, together with JP Morgan(both of them were notorious cocaine users) patented the light bulb and expanded work hours and became rich. tesla died penniless.

(14,040 posts)Just because someone, somewhere has stolen something doesn't mean we should just excuse theft. It's illegal to hack, it's illegal to pirate and invasion of privacy is illegal.
Your post with regards to this issue should be illegal too. <= sarcasm

(14,040 posts)then people are allowed to see that nudity in that instance. It doesn't mean that as a society we have carte blanche over their bodies or their private lives or the right to hack their cell phones and then share their private photos with the world.
Would you like it if someone hacked into your phone and posted all the content to the Internet? And don't say, sure, I have nothing to hide because you'd be pissed. Anyone would be pissed if their personal stuff, no matter how innocuous or racy it is, was posted for the world to see. And what they (or you) do for a living shouldn't matter one iota. Celebrities ARE entitled to privacy--not all celebrities are attention hounds and I repeat, every single person, no matter their profession, deserves the right to their privacy.

(14,040 posts)but, yes, I'm talking about standards of behavior but I'm also talking about the law... whomever did this, broke the law. If they were in the UK, I believe the people who spread the photos could also be prosecuted.
Yes we have jails and some people deserve to be in them.

(27,985 posts)It is not Ms. Ritters or Ms. Dunsts responsibility to protect their own property from theft by not creating said property or only storing it in a specific place any more than its any womans responsibility to dress a certain way, travel in groups, wear special nail polish, or what-have-you to lessen the chance that someone will attempt to assault them. As is often the case when we discuss crimes of this nature against women, we have it backwards. It is not on the (usually, but not always, female) victim to take enough measures to protect herself but rather on the (usually, but not always, male) victimizer to choose not to commit said crime. That notion was lost on the Disney Channel back in 2007. They treated Vanessa Hudgens like a sinful child after personal nudes were leaked and stated that Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment. We hope shes learned a valuable lesson.
