Oklahoma cop accused of raping black women finds supporters on social media

Supporters of an Oklahoma City police officer who was charged with raping or sexually abusing eight black women have raised more than $7,000 for the 27-year-old cop.

Daniel Holtzclaw was arrested in August on charges of rape, forcible oral sodomy, sexual battery, and indecent exposure for allegedly sexually assaulting women while on patrol. He is being held on $5 million bond.

Friends and family of the three-year veteran of the Oklahoma City Police Department have created a Facebook page called “Justice for Daniel Holtzclaw.” They insist the criminal allegations against him are false, and have been using the page to try to sell shirts that read, “Free the Claw” and “#JusticeForDanielHoltzclaw.”

More than 500 people have “liked” the Facebook page.

This is a very cop friendly town. He will get his day in court and is innocent until proven guilty but my bet is on guilty.

In this day and age it may be impolite or inappropriate to wonder but yes one of our first questions was what his ethnic background might be as he does have a certain exotic appearance. The two strongest possibilities, being Oklahoma are part American Indian or Vietnamese (we have a very strong Vietnamese population here).

But of course anything is possible. My wife thought he looked a little bit like someone with Down's Syndrome but that may just be a generic Asian appearance that again could be from either Indian or Asian ancestry.

But whatever he may be I imagine he considers himself mostly white and he did patrol the part of town that was historically the African American part of town although today they do live throughout the city the NE quadrant is still primarily African American.
