So Zimmerman will be charged but

if the evidence was not preserved or taken how can a case be made or defended. I just heard that his clothes were not taken, pictures of his injuries were not taken and the gun was returned. So I assume the crime scene was not documented, all there is is a confession that he feared for his life and shot the kid. I guess there are 911 calls and some witnesses that didn't actually see what happened from beginning to end. This will be a tough case. This story will go on a long time maybe even many appeals, that is if he can even be located.

and let them choose how they want to deal with Zimmerman.

He's nothing but a human garbage.

that the police don't have the gun. Maybe I misunderstood. She also said they didn't keep a grass stained shirt.

I'd run it down but I'm posting on a phone.

I think they let him keep the shirt. As far as injuries go there were paramedics on the scene and I'm guessing they have to file a report as well as the police. It would be in the best interest of the police to produce evidence of a struggle to avoid accusations of a cover up.
