Republicans Stumbling As Their Own Poll Shows Michelle Nunn Leading Georgia Senate Race
By: Jason Easley
Tuesday, September, 2nd, 2014, 8:23 pm

Republicans continue to stumble and bumble in their quest to retake the Senate as a Republican poll has found that Democrat Michelle Nunn leads the US Senate race in Georgia 45%-43%.

The WRBL poll was conducted by a Republican strategist and revealed that Nunn leads Republican David Perdue 45%-43% with 7% supporting Libertarian Amanda Swafford. This is the second straight poll that has shown Nunn leading. Ten days ago, the Landmark/WSB-TV poll had Nunn leading Perdue 47%-40%, with Swafford at 3%.

The fact that a poll conducted by a Republican strategist revealed that the Republican candidate is trailing is especially bad news for the GOP’s hopes of retaking the Senate in November. Mitch McConnell has struggled mightily with a campaign that at times seems like it is trying to lose, but Kentucky might not be the Democrats best chance at a pickup that will help them keep their Senate majority.

snip//

A Democratic victory in Kentucky or Georgia would make it a near certainty that Democrats will keep their Senate majority. If Senate Democrats can weather the storm in 2014, they will have a favorable map for picking up Senate seats in 2016 and beyond. If Republicans don’t win the majority in the Senate this year, they may not win it for years to come.

If Democrats can win the Senate race, it will be more than another sign that Georgia is shifting. A Democratic win could keep the Senate under their control for several more election cycles. Nothing less than the future direction of the country could be riding on the outcome of the Senate election in Georgia.

I am really glad people are waking up and Republicans are polling badly, I really like that part. However, I would rather have Republicans feel confident they are going to win elections and stay home cuz it doesn't matter if they vote.

I love the taste of GOPer tears and the looks on their faces when they realize that a relatively easy win has turned to ashes in their mouths.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth also brings a schadenfreudic joy to my soul.

if anything, i'd expect republicans to be MORE inclined to vote in circumstances where they had a winning ticket, rather than a desperate situation where they were shown to have little or no chance, i.e. down 10 points or more. As is, this is still a very tight race so motivation would be high regardless, on both sides.

in the end, not much has changed; come November, our real problem was and will be motivating likely Democratic voters for a mid-term election when we have a Democratic president.

And I want to see an end to patriarchy at least as badly as you. I endorse feminine values as the path to species survival--nurturance, networking, and social interlinking rather than domination by one sex or class. I take my inspiration from people like Gimbutas and Eisler.

Who counted the votes? Was the count done in total secrecy? Did anybody bother to ck to make sure the count was correct? Was there even any paper to count?

I personally think GA is a poster child for why you don't want to have the votes counted on electronic voting machines.

In 2009, Germany decided to ditch the machines because, as they decided after a lengthy case before the constitutional court, you can't count the votes in secret and provide no way for the average voter to feel confident of the result and still call yourself a democracy. Naturally, this received almost no press in the US. Check it out here:

http://www.opednews.com/articles/Germany-bans-computerized-by-Paul-Lehto-090303-583.html

I think Barnes probably won in 2002, but of course there's no way to know if I'm right or wrong. When these machines are used, usually there's no way to know one way or the other.

I'll be pulling for Nunn, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

We are not going to let the strides we've made over the last six years be reversed.

She's more conservative than I would like. But we've got to start by getting the right wing republicans out. Then, once the conservative democrats are in, make them more liberal. I know that's more a long term strategy, lol. For right now: get the right wing lunatic republicans out of Congress.

Often, support for no-hoper minor candidates collapses in the final week, as reality sets in among the True Believers. When they finally resign themselves to the fact that one of the major-party candidates will win, they pick the one they dislike less. It seems likely that most of that 7% will end up voting for Perdue.

Your convictions only get you so far. At the eleventh hour, many of them might jump ship and decide the futility of their cause isn't worth throwing away their vote and hold their noses and choose what they consider the lesser evil.

Plus, even if they stick with the Libertarian, with that big a number and that close a race, this thing is likely to go to a runoff. Then all those libertarian candidates come home to the repoblican party (I'm wild-ass guessing it would be 2/3s of them).

Nunn can do it. But it is a long road to get there.

Any other Dem in this race would be losing by a wide margin. Same with Carter. Smart moves to get them the support to lead the primaries, otherwise both the Senate and gov races would likely be over.

My whole focus is on destroying the Republican Party & the key to doing that is chop up their dominance in the South.
The Republican Party has long joined forces with the Confederate Dixiecrats & because of that they will be banished just like the Dixiecrats.

We'll deal with the Democratic Party & its nonsense AFTER we finish off that Republican Party.
First things first.
