Greeting from DU from Russia.

I'm in a small town close to Moscow right now on a work related trip. Will take a two days vacation in Moscow after I am done here.

Everything is quiet here. Getting the visa was easy considering I had an invitation from a nuclear research facility. I'm more worried about getting harassed at the US border at some point in the future.

My two cents on Ukraine, after various discussions with Russian and Ukrainian colleagues: It is polarizing Russian society in a similar way as Bush did in the USA. I've heard of several vicious arguments breaking out within families over the issue.

It sounds like your colleagues may be highly educated Russians and Ukrainians so their opinions may not reflect their respective compatriots exactly but it is very interesting.

I suppose the same could be said for the Americans' response to Bush's military adventures. One segment of society is prone to rah-rah patriotism and support for the president at least for a while when conflicts begin. Other segments are much more suspicious about military adventures.

Share more when you can.
