White Privilege is voting against your economic interests

You do because you believe that non-Whites are inferior and any assistance programs in education, health care, housing, mass transit, etc. only serve to degrade your status as a White person while elevating the status of the non-White person.

IOW, living under economic hardship and turmoil is preferable to seeing an African American get a decent education or be able to get healthcare. White, non-college educated, lower economic class, American males ARE THE group that gives Republicans their power. What draws them to the Republicans is their stance against the expansion of government to help the poor, the working, and the middle classes.

This demographic group understands that there are indeed benefits to being a White male, and government is a direct threat to that privilege.

It should be on class.

Direct their anger at the 1% instead of fellow poor people.

The rich must love this whole White Privilege debate. Poor white people arguing with poor black people.

scorched-Earth, White-privilege strategy, and to them, I say with all of my heart and all of my soul ... thank you on behalf of all minorities in this country.

You are the Americans who keep it real and give minorities a voice in our democracy, who have campaigned, fought, paid, bled, and even had lost loved ones in our quest for equality for all. You have been there, right beside us, courageous and unstoppable, and that makes you true Americans - the ones everyone around the world has come to admire, love, and even idolize.

brave and incredible White Americans.

Thirty-nine percent is huge. And I'm grateful for that.

White Americans who don't subscribe to White's Only Privilege and who care about all Americans should be given as much credit as any civil rights advocate of color because of their bravery, intelligent insight, compassionate hearts, and unrelenting support - even at the threat of their lives (see below). They should be admired for their staunch support to change a system that they, personally, really didn't need to change since the color of their skin afforded them advantages PoC weren't afforded. But they did, and that's why we should never forget their part in our continued struggle for equality for all.

8. 39% is indeed significant, but it's not the majority. Also....

on state and local levels, the most regressive pols who promise to cut govt spending, roll back education gains, deny medicare expansion, etc. win with a majority of the White, non-college educated vote. That one bloc gives Republicans their power largely because they know that even though they are poor and struggling, they still benefit in society by being a White male.

9. You're correct. It's not a majority, but just think if we lost that 39%? Where would we be?

If there wasn't a real advantage of being a White male, then it wouldn't make any sense to vote against your own self interest in order to preserve it.

So much so they insist members who post about such issues are "trolls." You can't call that awareness.
