China Just Got Serious About Global Warming. Now We're Really Out of Excuses.

The world's biggest polluter will set up a carbon market as early as 2016. Here's why that matters.

Over the weekend, China announced it was moving forward with plans for a massive, nationwide cap-and-trade program intended to help combat global warming. Here's why China is doing this now, and what we know about the plan so far.

When I was in China last summer - with one English-language channel, a news channel - a lot of coverage was given to the Chinese president's speeches on the need to address climate and environmental issues. Apparently he was serious, but whether there is meaningful follow-through is the big question. Admitting there's a problem is the first step to getting something accomplished.

We shall see if anything concrete comes of this.

here too.

Hope it isn't too late for this planet. But better late than never.

They may end up taking on the role that we should have taken, leading the world away from dependency on oil and all that entails re wars etc.

What a lost opportunity for us. We could have been a great country leading the world into a better future, instead we are stuck in the mud still bombing for oil.

And they really do need it. Not only is it going to help against climate change it is also going to reduce polution. Unless you have been there you would not believe how bad it can get.
Now of course the climate deniers are going to say its all a conspiracy orchestrated by Al Gore...
