Investigating Ferguson

Liza: “Thank God that AG Holder is going after ALL of the corruption, cover ups, and human rights abuses in Ferguson. And, sadly, I suspect we’ll eventually learn that what has been going on in that town is far worse than we imagined.”

Eric Holder Opens Broad Probe Into Ferguson Police

Attorney General Eric Holder on Thursday announced a sweeping federal civil rights investigation of the police department of Ferguson, Missouri, citing a “deep mistrust” between officers and the people who live there.

Holder said the investigation would determine whether officers in Ferguson had “engaged in a pattern or practice of violations of the U.S. Constitution or federal law.”

He said that the investigation would analyze police use of force, traffic stops, searches and the treatment of detainees. It will go beyond the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown, by a white officer, Darren Wilson, on Aug. 9.

The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division said it had opened more than 20 similar investigations into police departments across the country over the past five years. It said it is enforcing 14 agreements to “reform law enforcement practices at agencies large and small.”

And or a civil case.

And, to be sure, this goes FAR beyond one act by one cop on one day.

That entire community, the cops and the DA and the grand jury and city council, city hall, et al., are probably beyond redemption and need to be torn down and rebuilt.

Ferguson is the beginning of the investigations and it is spreading. Justice will be served and it is my belief that AG Holder is going to see to it.

Which would obviously be huge.

Is Holder is allowed to go there legally.

Some people did not want Obama getting involved, but I am glad he did and sent Holder to investigate the corruption going on locally.

Hoping this will start triggering some departments to start changing some policies (at least for now).

I think it will. Call me silly, yet this may well be the beginning to an end that should have ceased to exist a long time ago.

It's not happening overnight, however it is happening.

It would be really great if this young man who had his life ended too soon started something here that could spread through the whole nation.

It sure does seem to me that if a state is having problems with their local police departments that is when the feds should step in.
