Bob McDonnell and Thomas Jefferson

Virginia has very weak ethics laws for their politicians because they never needed them before.

Jefferson was unable to foresee the modern Republican party, a party of grifting, self-interested boobs ready to sell out to the highest bidder. Jefferson never thought that someone would enter public office to cash in. He couldn't envision a phoney moralist like McDonnell with a suspect degree and his cheerleader wife ready to sell out the Commonwealth for high end designer goods and secret "loans". McDonnell is a sign of how far the GOP has fallen and how out of step with America they really are.

Jefferson was the original skeptic about the poisonous influence of "moneyed incorporations." in politics.
