http://www.buzzfeed.com/jtes/daniel-holtzclaw-alleged-sexual-assault-oklahoma-cityOKLAHOMA CITY Daniel Holtzclaw made a mistake, an Oklahoma County prosecutor argued on Wednesday: He messed up.
Holtzclaws mistake was pulling over the wrong person: A woman who, when he allegedly assaulted her, wouldnt hesitate to call the police.
It happened around 2 a.m. on June 18, when Holtzclaw, a 27-year-old police officer, was ending his shift on the northeast side of Oklahoma City. He switched off his patrol car computer. Then, without calling for assistance or otherwise notifying his station, police said, Holtzclaw made a traffic stop.
The woman identified in court documents as J.L. and in local media reports as a 57-year-old grandmother said she was driving home after playing dominos with a friend, according to detective Kim Davis, who recounted J.L.s story at length during a hearing at the Oklahoma County Courthouse

This is pretty ugly, and it fairly long.. This story goes at length as to how Oklahoma City police caught this man. While this event has been up before, this describes the lengthy process that went into the arrest. There is a whole lot of evidence that the story describes. It is quite descriptive and ugly. But the evidence is strong as it is presented here. You decide..

(9,904 posts)Was stated how the media ignored these outrages by not giving this more national exposure, I can only imagine the hundreds if Not thousands of other law enforcement crimes that get literally swept under the radar to where they eventually disappear!
So much more to do, so much and just like most injustices in this country, one crime garners front page news one day then the next replaced with another, the first never finding justice as the once newsworthy crime becomes lost in the archives...
I'm more than horrified for these women and the countless other unknown ones I have no doubt exist!

(38,414 posts)At least one of the detectives followed this to the ugly end. He must be given credit for not sweeping this away. Also , I think you are correct. There are dozens of others like it if not hundreds There was an unbelievable captain in the Chicago Police Force (Jon Burges) that routinely tortured prisoners. It took years for that to be exposed and many years more before he was brought to trial on charges of lying to a grand jury, as opposed to the torture itself. The federal government finally got him..But for every one that caught, so many get away..never charged.

(9,904 posts)National attention daily, not only that, but we our country are spending millions to attempt to find justice against their crimes......and yet......here at home, on our very shores, and by Americans, daily, horrific crimes are being committed by someone with a resemblance of power and for some reason, there is not a call to arms like we have against others in other countries to stop them, to prosecute them, to even bring them to justice!
We hear of crimes being reported over seas and we need no trial, no justice legal system, we need not even witness the crime or have evidence and so many here in this country DEMAND we become judge, jury as well as executioner in order to stop alleged crimes..
But here, where are the calls from the nation, the media, the politicians that we do something to stop crimes now? The crimes occurring inside our own country.
The few who attempt the call for justice are so easily silenced that crime continues, and those criminals no longer truly fear justice will ever find them guilty, so it continues..
We need to right our own wrongs before we can effectively help other countries right theirs...

(652 posts)This is another example of how police cameras need to be required and how much we need independent review boards that will handle investigating all public complaints against police. The police have proven over and over again that they are incapable of investigating themselves. This detective deserves a lot of credit, but we need more people like him that don't have a serious conflict of interest involved.

(55,445 posts)but he needs to be put under the fucking jail...
And his GoFundMe account was closed -- Seriously...Just WHO are the people who donate to these pieces of shit? Do black lives have so little worth to them that they can't EVER bear to see us get the tiniest bit of justice??
He needs to be locked up. It's outrageous to let a sexual offender, police or not, back out on the streets to victimize more people.
The special treatment of police has to be stopped as well. Same treatment as anyone else.
