(205,114 posts)I've had cats in my life, but never a kitten. He is very, very active, LOL.

(34,367 posts)My kitten, Otis (named after the elevator) loooooved to get a running start & shimmy up my legs & up on my shoulder then would ride around the house. I rescued him at about 4.5 weeks. He's much too big for that now, tho. Ouch! He's still my shadow & best bud. Have big fun--kittens are the best! Hilarious.

(205,114 posts)I wouldn't mind him riding on my shoulder, otherwise. The main issue he has is biting. It's not mean biting, but he wants to put everything in his mouth. I've tried every kind of chewing/teething toy I can find, but he still prefers fingers. The vet said Felix was about seven weeks, but that was three weeks ago. He was 2.6 lbs., but I can tell he's grown. He is absolutely adorable, despite the biting. I don't want him to grow up...

This dog is smart and to my way of thinking is using a tool.
Thanks for the thread, Cooley Hurd.

(26,877 posts)My dog would just bark excessively at the ball until I jumped in and got it for him!

(8,159 posts)Drool on the ceiling at times.
I grew up with boxers so drool I'm used to lol.
Keeping them clean is lots of work but I love the breed.

(14,549 posts)but the male got out and is less inclined to water than the female. Got some of it on video:
I love when she bites at the water splashed up by her own paw.

(63,221 posts)I love Labs! My siblings all have Labs. I would love to have a dog (would probably get a shelter dog) but can't have one in my apartment. Having a dog is my number 1 goal in life! Your dogs are absolutely adorable!

(14,549 posts)All the years of waiting led to me getting 2 pups from the same litter. I have worked with fosters and rescues and my family adopts strays. About 2 weeks after my roommate's beloved Boxer rescue passed, I saw a flyer for Lab / Retriever mix puppies and I knew I wanted one. I am a huge fan of Dr Bonnie Bergin and her first dog was a Lab / Golden cross who was smart, intuitive and relaxed -- the opportunity to have a similar dog (or two) was irresistible.
Within 30 minutes of seeing the litter, I had 2 dogs. They are the first Labs (mix) I have ever had and they spoil the heck out of me. Just easy going and sweet dogs. The male LOVES to train and play. The female LOVES people, cats, babies and other dogs, and sleeping. Between the dogs and taking up farming I have gotten into the best shape of my adult life with lots of love and laughs. If I loved these dogs any more than I do my heart would explode.
There are lots of great dogs in shelters or through foster/rescue orgs when you are ready. I hope you can add one to your life soon. My expectations, training and appreciation were greatly aided by 2 books "Understanding Dog Mind" by Bonnie Bergin, and "My Smart Puppy" by Wilson/Kilcommons.
(the litter was 3 black, 3 gold and a chocolate. They are about 8 weeks old at the beginning of this video...)

(63,221 posts)It just made my day! There is something about Labs and Golden Retrievers that is so soulful, almost human - but without the downside. They just melt my heart! Someday, I will have at least one doggy - hopefully more!
