let me give you an example. I would call rap homophobic/misogynistic. someone on DU pointed out to me that i was being racist, and at the time i disagreed vehemently, but later I realized that my position was racist. (also, since then I have read many studies showing that we music/culture associated with AA's are considered violent, even when they are not). I would never have learnt this had someone not disagreed with me.

You can call that bickering or drama or whatever, but if we all agreed all the time, this place would be much shittier than it is now.

and attack the messenger rather than debate.

There are too many on here who are very hostile. Mostly when it involves sexism. Those people need to grow up or get banned. People are getting harassed and threatened. That's not disagreement.

I take it this OP is in response to someone else's OP asking whether there is too much drama on DU. Yes there is. And this is meta and not accomplishing anything but add to useless threads that mean nothing. Sorry, that's how I see it.
