During Todd's interview of Pres. Obama, NBC uses "stock" photos that directly contradict the words of the President. NBC makes sure viewers see the "corporate news view." The viewers hear one thing while seeing a conflicting image.
Todd sneers in reaction to statements, rolls his eyes at others, if that isn't editorializing, then what is it?
This of course is bullshit and my reconciliation with network news, is off.

(57,936 posts)Obama is the president. He is the one who interrupts. Others should not interrupt him.
That is because, as president, Obama has little time to speak to us. The interviewer should understand that the public is interested in hearing what the President has to say, not to what the interviewer wants to say.
Todd is a disrespectful nobody.

(7,939 posts)While the term "infomercial" was originally applied only to television advertising, it is now sometimes used to refer to any presentation (often on video) which presents a significant amount of information in an actual, or perceived, attempt to promote a point of view. When used this way, the term may be meant to carry an implication that the party making the communication is exaggerating truths or hiding important facts

(57,936 posts)Eisenhower was the golfing president. Only on the golf field can a person have a truly confidential conversation sans listening devices. And only if both or all golfers want the confidentiality. The president needs confidentiality. When Bush golfed, I got scared. What is he cooking up that he does not want us to know about? But when Obama golfs, I feel secure because I know he is outsmarting the many traitors around him. Maybe some of those guys feed information to the likes of NBC -- the traitors I mean.
adirondacker
(2,921 posts)shills was just blatant bullshit drawing out and scrutinizing every word in the reply that Obama made, like it was some major disconnect with society that the president has. The irony of the disconnect lies at their priorities of what is important to the people of this country.
Yeah, Bush on the course

(7,754 posts)intelligent people to have really intelligent discussions. But in fact, they went the opposite direction. They got Chuck Todd who is a TV news insider. They also got Scarborough. They also got the guy who used to produce Chris Mathews show. Talk about insiders. It's not even Washington insiders, which is bad enough, it's NBC Washington Political insiders. I can't imagine a bunch more out of touch. None of them has any clue what is going on outside of their tiny little sphere.
Tim Russert was a Republican but he at least attempted to get people to talk about real issues. David Gregory is a Republican but he was so inept at the job that he just made the GOP talking points look stupid. Chuck Todd is an out of touch know it all. He will never learn anything new because he thinks he has all the answers.
Won't waste my time.

(24,732 posts)but I didn't have any high hopes. I don't know why Chuck Todd is so highly touted. He's arrogant and smug, a know-it-all, and not at all interesting or unique in any way, and doesn't strike me as particularly bright. Must have attained his position the old-fashioned way - sucking up to the powers that be.
The only folks I can think of who would be any good at this are on public TV or radio. Tom Ashbrook? Diane Rehm?
Not sure if I'll bother watching it.

I wish my POTUS would slap one of these uppity fucks DOWN!!!!!! Who do these goddamn people think they are? Such disrespect only because our POTUS is black. The way Toad is, is what white privilege is about. Never have I, in my 52 years of being interested in politics, seen such disrespect to a POTUS. THIS is why those fucks in blue feel like that can kill and torture black people in the streets. This is why the bundyshit crawled out from under their rocks and from the cesspools of amerikkka's racist swamps. I am so sick of this white supremacy/privilege bullshit..... Fuck you TOAD!!!!!

(979 posts)I never watch Sunday news shows because they make my blood boil, but it happened to be on when they started going into the intro. What a bunch of shit. I started shouting at the tv "WTF, really?" and that's when my partner made me shut it off. No strategy? Are you fucking kidding me? Golf AGAIN?! I knew when I heard that Chucky was taking over that it was going to be a right wing rag, but come on. That's just stupidity at it's worst.

(20 posts)The last time I watched David Gregory said that our entitlements were 'cannibalizing' our economy and then he basically asked his guest to agree with him. This is today's journalism?
Lindsey Graham and John McCain should save themselves the trip and prerecord their responses because they are the same every week. .....feckless....the President is weak....cut spending...Bengazi...etc. Sunday is the weekly grand finale of current propaganda.
American journalism used to interview MLK Jr and Nelson Mandela. Murrow called out McCarthy. Our true journalists today are putting their lives in extreme danger while NBC puts on whatever creates profit. Even PBS is corporate. Damn it.

(3,613 posts)This is way back when... when I had a good feeling about C-SPAN, feeling it was a breath of fresh air to see moderators without opinions. (I discovered C-SPAN shortly after 9/11 when the drums of war were pounding and giving me a headache in my eye -- I found "Washington Journal" in the mornings and enjoyed the moderators who did not give their own personal opinions while still getting headline news from newspapers across the country).
That was the first time I saw C.Todd, where he gave a daily report on congressional news.
Back then, when he was on C-SPAN, I don't recall being able to determine his personal politics. And when I saw that he was moving to network TV, I was 'Good for him!" and had high hopes that network TV was getting a non-biased voice.
Boy was I wrong!
Now it is more than obvious what his personal politics are, and on top of it, I really dislike his goatee.
