I had a dream...

...In which the American dream was still obtainable. Then I woke up from my afternoon nap and realized I was dreaming of a dream I had 10 years ago. Well at least I have cable TV for the football game and a frozen pizza I can eat. My PhD in engineering and dual income (married) may not be able to afford a house and a kid, but the Broncos game is on soon! Woohoo! TOUCH DOWN AMERICA!

edit: Just realized there may be some misinterpretation about the 10 years ago reference. It is NOT supposed to mean I liked the Bush years. Just that 10 years ago I was young and had a dream

so as they have football and pizza, they also have houses, and tho they can afford it, I'm afraid to dream for my grandsons.

The way I see it, the middle class shrinking is causing a lot of my generation not to be able to afford what our parents generation could. Bubble after bubble, bailout to those with assets (which necessarily punishes those just starting out with no assets), etc, pretty much excludes me from what my parents were able to do... I know I'm turning this into a pity party, so I wont go on

older than you and got a good fed govt job, and have retirement now and survivor benefits, so I have what my parents had, but have concerns for future generations.

...And his whole trickle down theory that turned out to be total nonsense. Not sure what Nixon did though as I haven't heard any specific policies from his presidency on this topic
