(319,079 posts)Dear Deborah Turness,
Chuck Todd was horrible on his debut MTP show and not very bright. And, so full of himself.. telling the President how to speak.. like he knows anything.
The President mentioned Syria 4 times and the Todd came up with the following..
"Youve not said the word, Syria, so far in our conversation. Obviously, if youre going to defeat ISIS, you have used very much stronger language. Its gone through the week during your trip to Wales. You got to go to Syria in some form or another."
Notice that President Obama's last mention of Syria came two sentences before Todd made his fatuous statement.
If one of the traits of a good interviewer is listening to the answers given by the subject, Chuck Todd fails miserably.
Sincerely, Cha
XOXOXOXO

(68,644 posts)I feel like threatening them with a social media campaign titled "CHUCK TODD LIES" or something.
Great letter.
I think I'll use it and just add something that a freeper might say had it been Bush, like, "Your host disrespected the president of the united states and needs to apologize".

I stand corrected and regret my suggestion that you were "pulling a Todd."
A lot of great responses here, I stayed with FU Chuckie Todd theme, someone has to be the bad boy!

(246 posts)What does one have to do to keep a post "kicked"?
I'm still somewhat of a newbie at this posting thing here on the DU ... allow myself to be intimidated by many of you because you know how to write and are so knowledgeable.
I'm a grandma first and then a news junkie ...

(319,079 posts)helps the OP(original post) to go to the top of the page. Also you can "Rec" it if you like.. 5 Recs and the OP goes to the Greatest Page and more people can see it.
The Rec button is in the bottom left hand corner and says DU Rec.
Don't be intimidated! We all started at one point and were noobs. Back in 2002 the reason I got I computer was so I could post on a Political message board... I was so Green!
From one grandma to another..
Anytime you have a question just ask me.. or I'm sure anyone here would be glad to help.

(8,419 posts)Not many assholes at DU, a few, but newbies hardly ever get treated poorly around here unless they are trolls.
If someone does get nasty you will usually encounter a few others jump all over the person. Responses to your questions were and will be, answered directly. Occasionally you will find someone type, Google it, or some other snide comment, just ignore it and remember the name.
And your priorities are set properly, have fun with the grandkids.

(246 posts)rufus dog your original post made it to Greatest Threads ... see me doing a happy dance!
I so hope NBC is swamped/overrun with emails about MTP ... Meet The Press.
A yay for me for doing the "kick" thingy!

(4,276 posts)"Chuck Todd is an embarrassment to the American viewing public in general and to NBC in particular.
His amateurish behavior on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, served no purpose other than to display itself as an example of how NOT to conduct an interview.
He not only showed blatant disrespect for the office of the President of the United States, but he also demonstrated an enormous lack of journalistic skill. By not even listening to President Obama as he addressed the issues raised by Mr. Todd, this interviewer proved the often disputed but obviously true point that NBC news and their related shows are nothing more than Fox News wannabes.
Make no mistake, the original tape will be viewed and dissected by anyone who seeks to hold the television networks accountable despite your deceitful attempt to launder the transcript. Your editing only shows how low the networks have sunk in their attempts to make this President appear to be less than what he is...which is an intelligent, well-educated, and insightful leader.
Shame on you Chuck Todd and shame on NBC. The American people deserve better and President Obama deserves an apology."

(11,197 posts)What on earth was NBC thinking when you named Chuck Todd to host Meet the Press. Is he deaf? Does he have a short attention span? He told the President that he had not mentioned Syria at any point during the interview. This despite the fact that the President mentioned Syria numerous times, most recently a couple of lines before Todd's comment.
The fact that Todd pointedly was not paying attention to what the President was saying demonstrates that he has a personal political agenda in taking on this new assignment.
Just when we think that Meet The Press cannot get any worse, NBC proves us wrong. If you cannot get a decent host, why don't you just put the show out of its misery and pull the plug on it.
