General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsNone of MSNBC 'left' programs discussed Chuck Todd's disastrous performance.
Were they censored from criticizing their boss? Did they decide on their own to ignore the elephant in the newsroom all day Sunday and yesterday? Still today?
If this is how it is going to be, the TRUTH will get NOTHING while GOP narratives supported by Chuck Todd and his lack of journalistic ethics, will get to go unchallenged, even by the MSNBC shows the left has been depending on for the minimal amount of coverage that does challenge the RW media machine.
Sorry - - count me in with those who think that NBC corporate media only uses the nighttime programming of MSNBC to placate the left while the corporate heads shape the daily news coverage and the debate ON THEIR OWN TERMS.
If I somehow missed the coverage from any of the shows, then, I offer an apology in advance - if I am correct and no one referred to it yesterday, then our left 'stars' aren't really ours, are they?

(12,882 posts)if you don't mention it, you haven't lied. Look at Cenk's experience. I'm sure Olbermann got the same squeeze. So that's the leverage. Play by the rules or don't. If Todd had been on a different network....
I'm not gonna stomp in your puddle. But you hafta ask yourself if all the rest that the MSNBC hosts DO turn a spotlight on is useless when weighed against Todd's gaff. I'm not ready to toss the baby out with the Todd water. I support FS TV, and curiously, I rarely see them mentioned here like MSNBCs crowd - maybe I'm just blind. I'm not defending MSNBCs evening lineup, but it's them or the other rot on TV when I'm slouched in my chair. Not caring to oogle a leggy blond on a stool, I turn to MSNBC. And since I'm not perfect, I can forgive them now an then.
Todd's already said that his job is not to get the truth - only to parrot what he hears - he's an entertainer, not an investigative reporter. In telling us this, he's tipped his hand. I, for one, am not surprised he's not shooting square. In a perfect world we'd command vast majorities in both houses. Veterans wouldn't have to be looking for handouts. Bridges and hiways wouldn't be crumbling. US forces would be kept OUT of other peoples business. If one was sick, they'd get the care they needed without ever having to go for their wallet. That world has yet to arrive.

My goddess, but people around here are suckers.
IT'S ALL CORPORATE MEDIA!!!
Rachel (and whomever else is on that "news" network) is just as much a part of Corporatia as News Corp and Fox. They just slant their content to be attractive to you, so they can sell advertisements to your eyeballs.
So yes, your paragraph that begins with "count me in..." is correct.

(24,396 posts)she'd be planning her second day of big coverage. As of now, crickets.
Where's Big Ed? Lawrence? Hayes and all of the other MSNBC lefties who would be all over this if Chuck Todd was a Fox or CBS or ABC personality.
And where were Rachel and the rest when David Gregory was licking Karl Rove's balls for all those years? Silent, that's where.
Gives one a perspective, does it not?

(65,328 posts)And Letterman is on CBS, so he doesn't have to pull punches where an NBC idiot is concerned.
Furthermore, he had way more viewers than the leftish programs, and his viewers are more diverse, so he isn't just preaching to the choir.

(10,597 posts)Ed just came on, so we'll see today. If he, Rachel or Lawrence don't comment on the gaffe today, then the fix was in from the get-go. Check for Jon Stewart & Stephen Cobert (unless they are on vacation?) I expect they (the MSNBC crowd) won't, as word probably came down from on NBC High to not open their traps about it.
It really was example of how surreal Corporate M$M is now. Stupid Chuck Todd, sitting there interviewing the President of the United States of America. And of course PO was the gentleman and didn't make light of Chuck's gaffe. He didn't need to. It was all on tape. Anyone with a brain in their head could see the comedy of the situation.
David Letterman's clip last night nailed the whole situation. If anyone hasn't seen it yet, there's a link to it in the following post:

(84,711 posts)They doctor an interview with the President and boldly put it out there on their debut show?
Why did they think they could get away with it? What about the President's Staff? Why are they not pressuring Todd and MSNBC. And if they don't issue an apology then what does that mean?
Any thoughts?

Except... would SNL be able to get away with it? He would be a rich source of material for them.
** I would love to read the interoffice memorandums and emails regarding his POOR performance... and some of the big wigs have probably called him in to 'evaluate' the strengths and weaknesses and mistakes... right?
They need to have someone with a brain and a world-view (instead of just a gop view), go over every topic, segment, and question he asks. He shouldn't ever be trusted to "wing it" and just talk on his own. Somehow, they've got to muzzle the stoopid on him.
