Most infuriating story of the day, man beats girlfriend's kids bloody, gets one year.

That's all.

Janesville man gets 1 year in jail for child abuse

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) - A Wisconsin mom whose children were beaten until they were bloody and unconscious has called the abuser's one-year sentence a "complete failure of the justice system."

The Janesville Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1tra5CT ) 23-year-old Brandon Quinn of Janesville pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of physical abuse of a child. As part of a deal with prosecutors, he was sentenced to one year in jail, followed by five years of probation, online court records show.

Quinn could have served up to 25 years in prison if the second count of physical abuse of a child hadn't been dismissed.

A criminal complaint accuses Quinn, the former boyfriend of the children's mother, of hitting her 7-year-old boy and 9-year-old girl with a hammer, spoon and spatula. It also says he kicked and choked the children.

There should be community shaming when justice isn't done.

Either the judge owes the defense counsel a big favor, or the defense has compromising pics of the judge, or the judge is buds with the defendant's family. Whatever it may be, justice was without a doubt not served here.

to arrest the developmentally disabled mother of a child who died at the age of 15 weighing only 15 pounds some years ago. The charges were dropped when many of us who are parents of children like this pointed out that this child was a client of social services and was not getting the right medical help. I was very involved as my daughter has the same problem as that child.

This community is the home of one of our idiot congresspersons. I think it is Paul Ryan. Maybe mistaken. But this is a very conservative area that exhibits all of the rw idiocy we see and this sounds like one of the samples.

his mother on the advice of a pediatrician due to "failure to thrive." The doctor acted shocked that the child wasn't gaining weight.

EXCEPT the child had a feeding disturbance and didn't eat a great deal. The guardian ad litem was nasty and was making faces to the judge while I testified that the child was not a "picky eater" but had a feeding disturbance. When she cross-examined me, she asked, in a shitty way, "Who are you to diagnose a feeding disturbance?"

I answered, "I'm a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist who diagnosed the feeding disturbance, and developed a plan of care for the feeding disturbance which the pediatrician signed, as you can see right here."

And I presented the signed plan of care. And she was PISSED OFF.

The judge granted temporary custody to the foster care system because the kids are just "picky eaters" like other kids.

Sigh.

easily swallow her food and had horrible reflux problems. Finally one of our doctors suggested a feeding tube in the stomach. She went from 50 pounds most of her life to a little less than 90 pounds. She now looks good and still eats a little by the mouth because we want to keep her able to swallow at all.

When we confronted to social workers in Janesville there were 5 of us parents who had children like this and we were so angry that they had let that child die they had no choice but to listen to us.

I think that it was not so much the fault of the social workers as it was a "normal" practice in Wisconsin to not use this kind of procedure for children like that. We are hearing a lot of people who do not want to spend money on long term care for severely disabled people. I and the other four parents were thanking God that we lived in Minnesota where they have an excellent program.

I hear child molesters have a hard time in prison it wouldn't surprise me if he will be dealt with in jail. Child abuse infuriates those who have been abused themselves. A college professor told me years ago that a large portion of prisoners have been abused as children and had undiagnosed learning disabilities. Mr Quinn will get his punishment in due time.

And he wasn't charged with assault with a deadly weapon? Really?

That is a complete failure of the justice system to the point where the Justice Dept should say, "Woah, wait a minute, what happened here?"
