Texas Lt Gov. David Dewhurst: Unaccompanied Minors Are A 'Mirage'

Speaking with Tony Perkins on yesterday’s edition of “Washington Watch,” Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst said that unaccompanied minors fleeing drug-related violence in Central America are just a distraction engineered by President Obama.

“This whole conversation about the unaccompanied children, ladies and gentlemen, this is a mirage, it is a public relations effort, this is an effort by the Obama administration to divert your attention,” he said.

Dewhurst said the children are a small share of the immigrant population compared to the many criminals he said are crossing the border.
