The measure passed largely along party lines in a 249-163 vote, but 22 Democrats broke ranks to rebuke the president, with just two months to go before the midterm elections.Let me get this straight. President Obama is taking heat for the prisoners being bought and sold that end up losing their heads. However he is also taking heat when he takes bold action and negotiates to bring them back alive so they don't get bought and sold or lose their head. If he does that he is of course rebuked for doing it. I guess I could see this rebuke back when the exchange happened and it wasn't clear prisoners were so freely changing hands and how dangerous some hands are at the moment. But now that it seems really clear... WTF is the House's message on this. Do they want ISIS to get there hands on more Americans so they can be beheaded too. The President is about to try to rally international support to try to help other prisoners out there and end the conflict and the House goes off and sends a clear mixed (stupid) signal to all our potential allies. Clearly the only right thing for Obama to do is nothing, or something, or both at the same time. I don't get it. All I get is the man can't win and the media ignores these petty rebukes like they aren't totally petty time wasting embarrassments to our country.
"What poor timing for a resolution," said Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas.

(297,128 posts)to know who those dems are who think bringing home Sgt Bergdahl was a bad idea.. you know what? I'm thinking the President is grateful he could do that and doesn't give a damn about the idiots in Congress who "condemn" him. Badge of Honor.

(62,325 posts)the criminal policies that are responsible for all of this. Had this country abided by the rule of law, investigated the lies, the torture, the criminal invasion of a sovereign nation, the 'shadow government' and the war crimes, rather than going after the Whistle Blowers, and there were numerous whistle blowers, this would not be happening. The War Criminals would be busy defending themselves, rather than pulling strings behind the scenes.
But once the rule of law is abandoned, the Constitution mocked, nothing should be surprising. If Dems thought that by letting the criminals off the hook they would be 'nice', they didn't understand the nature of these criminals.
Clinton let them off the hook also, emboldening them to continue and escalate their crimes.
We told them so, is all I can say.

(13,685 posts)What were they thinking? The old maxim: "Give them an inch and they will take a mile", applies here. The whole damn system is out of control. Or, rather, it is very tightly controlled by the criminals, still.

I simply don't know how PBO does it on a daily basis. I'd say he's my #2 favorite president of my lifetime, but my 1st choice said that even he could do a better job than PBO, which just shows what a great man he is. Character of titanium & steel.
We just need more Democrats in the House and the Senate to move forward as a nation.

(51,076 posts)one is he is mixed race, black/white the other is he is a dem. Neither should be a concern to anyone let along something to tar and feather him for as they're surely doing with shit like this resolution.
I'm personally sick of republiCONs and their petty bullshit

(108,974 posts)We need every Democratic seat we can get, and if this resolution helps some of the Dems keep seats in conservative districts, then so be it.
