Image of Indianapolis police officer giving homeless man boots captured by Pacers star
An Indianapolis police officer's act of kindness has gone viral.
The unnamed officer was photographed Monday as he pulled over to the side of the road and gave his boots to a homeless man, WRTV reports.
The touching moment was posted to Instagram by Indiana Pacers star Roy Hibbert and then shared around the Internet by his more than 180,000 followers.
"Just seen an Indy police officer pull over, go into his trunk n [sic] give a homeless guy a pair of shiny boots," wrote the center.http://www.aol.com/article/2014/09/09/image-of-indianapolis-police-officer-giving-homeless-man-boots-pacers-roy-hibbert-instagram/20959828/?icid=maing-grid7|maing14|dl13|sec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D527073&hpt=hp_bn8

(6,944 posts)On July 7th, 2013, a newly-hired village police officer beat a handcuffed man until he lost consciousness. The officer was arrested by our sheriff less than one hour later. The man subsequently died from his injuries on July 11, 2013, and the officer was then indicted for involuntary manslaughter, aggravated battery and official misconduct. He remains jailed without bond, and is awaiting trial.
Overly-broad generalizations are not helpful, and most often are untrue, as well.

(8,515 posts)That being said I could be entirely fucking wrong about this guy.. Could be a Knight among criminals, 1 in 500...but for the most part cops have exceeded their thank you for your service card...

(7,234 posts)Every single time a cop is caught beating the shit out of someone or shooting an unarmed person, the police unions will frantically search for a homeless person to give shoes to and of course photograph it *cough*
WTF is up with the shoe thing anyway?
Its either that or giving a homeless person really shitty fast food (usually McDonalds) and photographing it like that did in Albuquerque after the James Boyd murder.

(51,308 posts)I have a close friend who is a cop.
She doesn't advertise the good things she does.
But she does them daily.
Who are you planning to call when trouble comes your way? Bet you call the cops.

(15,139 posts)was sure this was about a cop kicking the crap out of a homeless man with his boots. Sorry to say that's more common than this act of kindness. Wish it wasn't.

(15,139 posts)on behalf of those they serve would be brought to public attention, if, indeed, such acts are going unreported. It woud be a good PR move given all of the negative press of late.

(4,202 posts)Is it too much to ask that when someone posts something like this to simply say "Hey, that was nice" and not try to infer what the cop's motives were?
The guy did a nice thing. For that one brief moment, some good happened in our world. Just enjoy it, FFS. We have enough threads about whether all cops are thugs or not.
