Obama To Assure Nation That ISIS Campaign Will Be Drawn-Out Ordeal They’re Used To

WASHINGTON—Previewing tonight’s televised prime-time address to the nation, White House aides confirmed that President Obama will reassure Americans that the impending military campaign against ISIS will be the exact same type of open-ended, drawn-out conflict that they are used to. “The president recognizes that citizens may be uneasy about this operation, and that’s why he will use tonight’s speech to comfort the American public by reminding them that they have been through armed engagements without clear end dates or even concrete objectives plenty of times before, and that this case is no different,” said senior White House advisor Daniel Pfeiffer, adding that the president will assuage viewers’ concerns by laying out precisely how the U.S. will mire itself in the same old quagmire that citizens have grown accustomed to over the years. “The president’s message is clear: This will be just another one of our routine intractable engagements in the region—it’s going to be unending, it’s going to be expensive, and it’s going to affect our credibility within the international community. There will not be any surprises for folks to worry about.” Pfeiffer added that by the end of Obama’s speech, Americans should be able to rest easy and just let this situation play out like they know it will.

4. It's ridiculous to think that any war or military operation will have a fixed start and end.

How is it not pretentious to think that it can be so easily defined? 'American Exceptionalism', indeed. We are so high on ourselves that we expect everything to go according to plan? What nonsense.

The clash of cultures continues. The Eastern World and the Western World are becoming more integrated (Thanks, Internet!) and the process is not a pretty one.

We have an entire generation growing up with no idea what it is like to not be continuously at war.

In fact, scratch that -- this is *exactly* what we heard last night.

but the seeds were planted during Obama's first term.

I've come to realize that Obama's first term was in large part designed to get everyone to like and trust America again.

In the meantime neocon stooges inside the administration and the government and also in a bunch of NATO countries and other allies quietly began to lay the groundwork for the War On Terror Redux.

It's now clear that the MIC wanted Romney to win the 2012 election, hence the Benghazi September Surprise.

Plus all the neocon propaganda we're seeing now is much more suited to a hard right Republican administration, that's why it feels like Bush Era bizarroworld for some of us.

What's more, Romney would have us in a full-scale war by now.
