Has DU given up on the injustice in Ferguson?

Citizens of Ferguson haven't.

Authorities arrest 35 in protest over Missouri shooting
By Eric M. Johnson - REUTERS

More than 100 demonstrators tried to block a U.S. highway and 35 people were arrested in clashes with authorities on Wednesday in a protest over the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teen by a white policeman in Ferguson, Missouri, police said.

Protesters sitting or standing in the road around Interstate 70 on-ramps near where Michael Brown, 18, was shot and killed by Ferguson Officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9 were arrested, St. Louis County Police spokesman Brian Schellman said.

The afternoon demonstration was generally peaceful, but a number of protesters hurled glass bottles, rocks and bricks at police, Schellman said.

Four people were arrested on charges they assaulted police officers, and 32 faced charges of unlawful assembly. One person was charged with both, Schellman said. Officers received minor injuries, he said.

off, I don't know. But, it was and we shouldn't let the spark die and require another unneeded death to re-spark the flame (which will happen if we don't pay attention now).

Maybe it takes many starts but I hope we get it actually running sometime some we don't have to keep witnessing the ugly realities of power and corruption run amok.

The first one was but I haven't read that about this one.

And n reality, this is not about just Brown or his family so they really don't have any right to call it off. This is about justice for all, racial inequality, police brutality and a justice system that is totally corrupt and used to finance private institutions and corrupt public employed individuals.

How many people have to die at the hands of police officers before we say enough?

after postponements. No one said the Browns had the right to call anything off. They don't want Micheal's name used to justify violence and illegal activity. They have every right to make those wishes known.

No, no links. My sources are local tv and radio stations.

But I'm discussing it elsewhere. I don't trust many DUers on the issues that created the culture where that could happen. And truth be told at last . . . We had a host in the AA Group get a hide in the group for saying what black folks really think.

The anti isms won - their chilling effect has finally given them their way.

We've shut up.

Hope they are Happy when the Koch educated HBCU students come of age politically . . .

Eh? Notice how he crept away on his tippy toes when I appeared? And the beauty of it is - I can't be alerted on. Or hidden.

I completely stuck to community standards and stood right within the boundaries of TOS.

Like - literally - to be honest with you - to tell you the truth. . . I did.

BTW - I whole heartedly agree with Number23 there. If ignorance and stupidity is all one has to offer in the AA Group - then why shouldn't we call it out? I mean - we can tell when one of those right wing bigots show up to shit in there. One reason and one reason only for that poster to post - and that was to spit in our faces.

I'm still trying to figure out what to do? Should I block him?

What do you think? He's not there to add anything - he's just there to well - just shit on black folks . . . as uh - if you look at my OP that did NOT get hidden and canNOT be hidden - I pointed out and gained agreement on.

Respectfully - and within TOS.

That's not why the post was hidden. It was hidden (educated guess here, since I wasn't the alerter or on the jury) for being rather rude to another poster, even if they might be a newbie/troll.

To go read the thread. The entire thread.

She wasn't rude.

She put him in the place he needed to be and told the truth.

Once again - better to be a liar than tell the truth at DU.

I think the fact we are still giving him a chance to respond says a lot about our group.

When it requires more than a snotty demeaning one line answer - buddy boy crawled away - didn't he?

Got a noteabout this particular exchange. The irony of someone whose been called out by Skinner himself trawling threads and worrying about the "rudeness" of others here is the height of delicious irony and a strong lack of self-awareness.

Deciding which shade of electric pink to paint your toenails would be a far greater use for that mighty brain of yours.

If he wants to go in circles with me - I will eventually tell him to back off.

Since we don't have access to the GD Host Forum and folks want transparency - I think I need to block that newbie troll from the group.

He was clearly there to be rude and disruptive and shut down the conversation.

No worries though - I suspect by this time next year none of us will be here to give them a need for the vapors. Then they can shut down the AA Group, HOF, etc etc. Why keep something if the posters are elsewhere?

I have little to no faith in local government. I'm waiting to see what the DOJ investigation yields.

If the local authorities want to try to go easy on him, I hope there's a civil suit brought that makes Michael Brown a daily reminder in his life. He shouldn't enjoy a single penny of the money raised to reward him for a single day.
