The President's speech optics: Looked forced, under duress

PUTIN had a speech around the same day or time, looking relaxed and comfortable with his own blood lust and threatening, the scorpion comfortable in its own skin.

Not saying that a Fireside Chat format would suit the topic for the President, just that not even gruffness will win the Wingnuts to *anything* coming from him. They were with their Faux Propaganda Network, smirking among themselves, saying, "Even when he does what we want, we'll STILL kick him in the nuts!1 Even more fun!1"

To me he appeared to be a man with a difficult decision to make and despite his misgivings of putting us back into the situation the Bush administration lied us into, he recognizes this is the course of action that must be taken.

You want President Obama to look relaxed like Putin? I don't want any leader of mine to appear relaxed when discussing the killing of anyone, terrorist or not, and certainly not when, once again, we are putting our own young men and women in harms way.

I want Obama to reflect how I feel about this and he did.

Among trendy, hard-marketed buzzwords, "optics" is about the lowest of the low.

As to the rest, well, meh. Faced with the realities of the situation, I can't imagine any non-sociopath giving a speech what would look relaxed and comfortable.

And those throwing the shade are so engrossed in their slurring that they can't be bothered to "get" that I'm supporting the President for being personally more in line with Progressive policy than what he was announcing.

As for my use of "optics," the President had no problem using it the other day and brought it to (my) mind.

Does anybody think that any successful politician and leader is NOT aware of how every body movement or expression comes across to his audiences?!1

who can only do what his handlers allow him to do. Yes, he is under duress, and we shouldn't allow it! But first we must agree that is happening. And most would rather blame Obama than open their eyes to the loss of our democracy.

Unless he is a willing captive of mean, stupid policy, I think the cognitive dissonance can't help but show in such an intelligent person.

The cool calm Obama does from time to time show how he feels breaking character from no drama Obama. So Putin is someone with "blood lust, threatening scorpion" that manages a calm demeanor. Maybe when someone is gruff it is genuine? I prefer it when Obama sneers and is satirical. The ability to show emotion is healthy. I find it fascinating the respect of Conservatives, authoritarians, Republicans for the likes of Mr. Putin and those with a desire that their President emulate him.

There was a politician mid twentieth century Europe who worked at optics and was a master of the craft. Putin's demeanor fits his lizard like presence. Obama by now has figured out optics are not going to convince anyone.

More importantly, if that is a term that's being bandied about by M$M talking heads, (assuming this is the source of origin) why is it being given value and adapted by activists here?
