The feelings of despair, fear, disbelief, horror come flooding back. The fact that I know what will happen because of this attack somehow makes it almost worse than watching it happen at the time.
What we have learned from 9/11, it seems, is nothing. We built this. We did this by our arrogance and ignorance. And here we go again. Fighting somewhere we shouldn't be, to fight something that came about because we went somewhere we shouldn't be, to fight something that wasn't there.
We're a warmongering country. Doesn't seem to matter what or why as long as they build a convincing argument to the people who read the sound bites.

(18,184 posts)that so few people are curious to find out what 9/11 was all about.
(And I'm not talking about controlled demolition or holograms or anything like that).
It's relatively easy to find out too. You don't have to dig that deep.
There are a few murmurings on the edges of the commentosphere* bubbling up...it'll be interesting to see if they gain traction or not.
*Just a word I made up but it seems appropriate to describe comments on news sites, social media and blogs.

It might reveal that not everything is perfect.

(39,215 posts)attack on with the date clear down on the bottom. I did not notice it at first and I panicked. I was about to scream to the others to come and watch but caught myself and looked for the date. I could not believe the way I felt. And it is especially surprising when I took the original event somewhat calmly.

(17,997 posts)OMG! as I sort of drifted in and out of watching. Like somewhere in the back of my mind it could be real again. I didn't take it calmly the first time. I was in shock for a long time.

Okay, just kidding. Russert made it clear that the exec branch and military was on high alert and had not reached a conclusion on who was behind the attack. He was a better reporter than he was an interviewer, just so long as Clinton was not involved.

(35,015 posts)Why do you want to re-live all those feelings? If done as a collective, it keeps us mired in negativity, and we'll never be able to change our fear-based society.
Do something else that makes you feel GOOD, and believe that we can change by refusing to partake in the negativity.

(17,997 posts)Because we should remember it. Because it can give us some empathy for the war torn countries around the globe. To remind us of what we did because of it and what we did to cause that kind of anger against us.

(35,015 posts)I don't have to watch it to empathize with others. Re-living the gut-wrenching emotions I experienced on that day? No thanks. It's in the past, and I won't allow my "now" to drag me back there.
