Michael Savage: Obama Is Wiping Out Americans Through Diseases Carried By Migrant Kids

Conservative talk show host Michael Savage said yesterday that Congress should impeach President Obama over his handling of unaccompanied minors crossing the southern border, saying that the president wants America to be “invaded by Third Worlders who are diseased.”

Savage said Obama is deliberately “dumping these children” in the U.S. so they can bring exotic diseases that will “wipe out” Americans. As we have noted, there is absolutely no evidence of a connection between the Central American children and an outbreak of a respiratory illness in the Midwest.

Of course, Savage insists that he is “just asking the question” whether “Obama’s dumping of illegal aliens into America” led to an outbreak of disease. “I can’t prove it,” he noted, before ranting against the “Stalinists” at the CDC who don’t believe his conspiracy theory.

The scary respiratory virus affecting children in the US, especially those with asthma and other respiratory conditions, is called enterovirus — EV-D68.

It seems Rush Limbaugh and other right-winger sites are speculating that the border crisis re: the children from Central America brought this disease to the US. Of course, they also believe this is part of Obama's plan to destroy America, that he has somehow orchestrated all of this.

So, I did some research, wondering if the first part of their conspiracy theory may be true. Here are two paragraphs from an article from a Chicago TV station, which echoes other legitimate news articles and CDC reports.

"EV-D68 was seen last year in the United States and this year in various parts of the world. Over the years, clusters have been reported in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona and various countries including the Philippines, Japan and the Netherlands.

Clusters of the virus have struck Asia, Europe and the United States from 2008 to 2010, and the infection caused relatively mild to severe illness, with some intensive care and mechanical ventilation, the health agency said."

I never saw Mexico or Central America listed as far as outbreaks.

Whenever I specifically searched to find the rates of outbreak of EV-D68 in Mexico and Central America, the only results I found are Limbaugh-esque sites which thrive on spreading hate and fear.

I hope they get a handle on this; parents must be very frightened.

Unfortunately, viruses mutate. Maybe that is what is happening here, causing it to be more severe in children most susceptible?

Limbaugh and company are like a virus. And they sure are mutants.
