21 Photos That Depict True Modern Fatherhood

Today's dads are clueless, incompetent, emotionless buffoons who don't know their asses from their elbows when it comes to childcare, right? Wrong. Dead wrong. The overwhelming majority of us (yes, I said, the overwhelming majority) are smart, loving, and just plain awesome men who put our families first. Don't believe me? Check out this compilation of photos taken directly from the Daddy Doin' Work Instagram feed. Contrary to what you'll find in mainstream media, this diverse group of dads perfectly illustrates what life is really like for fathers all over the world.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then you should prepare yourself for an epic 21,000-word post on modern fatherhood. Enjoy.

I used to take my girls to Baton Twirling competitions. I knew how to get their hair fixed up just right for the judges and make sure they were ready to go. I even could fix their costumes in a pinch.

Baby girl, I carry her everywhere, my FB is pretty much just pictures of my baby daughter. I took the entire 12 weeks FML I was allotted to stay home with her. I am leaving my job in October so I can go back to school and be at home with more in these first months of her life. Her and I, and my wife, we have a bond with out daughter that is amazing and already people can see the difference. She is a very happy baby.

About the dad letting his kids use his body as the best playground ever. You know - that hits close to home!

He is so great with them. Almost every day, they spend hours at different parks and then swimming in their apartment pool for a couple of hours before dinner. No more than a half hour or so watching cartoons on TV or iPad. They just fall into bed at night, no problem. I really admire the way he structures their day and keeps them active.

I think it's wonderful when dads can be this involved with their kids' lives.

I married a man who had full custody of his daughters, in many ways,he was more 'nurturing' than I was. Both my SIL's adore their kids, and are awesome Dads

My son in law is a really good dad. My husband I think was a little afraid of our kids until they could speak really well, so they could tell him everything.

than fathers were when my own children were born. I see lots of dads now who are obviously at ease with the day to day care that babies and children require. These are lucky kids.

We are working towards the point where men get the joy of having kids too without being demeaned for it. That is the purpose of feminism, that what women have been doing for centuries not be demeaned, and making it acceptable for guys to do what women have been doing. I think it is wonderful to see these pictures, and know that these dads get that relationship with their kids, instead of being gone 12 hrs a day, and just used as (often literally, shudder) a switch on the wall with whom the kids are threatened to behave.

When I started teaching in 1980, I never saw a father come to the school. Now, from a teacher's view, it seems to be 50%/50% when it comes to taking care of the kids. I just hope that extends to the housework.

I always brag on him as being the best dad ever. His job allows him a little flexibility so that he can be really involved with the 3 kids. Not just in things like back to school nights or coaching soccer, but he'll take them all, including the 11yr old girl, to play table top games on Fri nights. And he's the go to guy for spike-ing hair up into a big mohawk for crazy hair day. He loves to get involved showing them how to do things or how things work.

He is so much different than my own dad was 60 some years ago, when I think most of the dads just worked and came home to sit and watch tv or read the paper until dinner was ready.

I like to say that if I could have picked a son I would pick someone just like my son in law.
