Syria rebels, IS in “non-aggression” pact near Damascus

BEIRUT - Syrian rebels and jihadists from the Islamic State have agreed a non-aggression pact for the first time in a suburb of the capital Damascus, a monitoring group said on Friday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the ceasefire deal was agreed between IS and moderate and Islamist rebels in Hajar al-Aswad, south of the capital.

Under the deal, "the two parties will respect a truce until a final solution is found and they promise not to attack each other because they consider the principal enemy to be the Nussayri regime."

Nussayri is a pejorative term for the Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shiite Islam to which President Bashar al-Assad belongs.

Seems like all this is in line with the neo-con plan to take out Assad..... Perhaps all this is really a proxy war against Syria.... Soon, perhaps, we will join ISIS in their fight against Assad.... (maybe give them a new name).

And, then we can look for more enemies to be friends with to fight the enemy we bankrolled and gave weapons to when they were my friendly enemies...or somethin'.

Better to just start bombing immediately without sorting out that stuff, because those defense contractor profits won't earn themselves!

Assad is killing ISIS. Perhaps we should revisit that whole bomb Assad out of office thing and make him our friend. Worst case scenario the people who hate us now, will hate us next week too.

If that means we're now allied with Assad against his newly amalgamated enemies, which is what it seems to mean, that was even faster than I expected.

If it means we're now going to ally with ISIS to defeat Assad, I'd be very surprised, considering the media exertions and political capital spent on demonizing ISIS. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if Cameron and the neocons asked us to, I just don't think the Obama admin is eager to make us look like complete fools.
