Oh crap, I used to know this guy.

I used to work with him, he struck me as the controlling type.

Police: Sheboygan man shocks daughter with collar

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) - Authorities have charged a Sheboygan man who they say used a dog's shock collar on his 7-year-old daughter.

Sheboygan Press Media reports (http://shebpr.es/1wlSNfo ) 28-year-old Zachary Kacmar was charged Thursday with felony physical abuse of a child. Police arrested him Wednesday after his wife called authorities.

She tells police he put the collar around their daughter's neck and shocked her on Aug. 30. She says she wasn't present at the time but her daughter told her about the incident and she took photo of a mark on her daughter's neck. She says she decided to report her husband after consulting her pastor.

I am wondering if mom has been abused and took action when it came to her children.

and I mean ONLY...

is that if it is abuse of a child why is it not abuse of a dog/cat/any animal?

And, just to be absolutely clear, I believe it is abuse in any circumstance.

I once took one of those collars off a dog in a resort I worked at and returned it to the owner and told him if I saw it on the dog again I would report him to animal control and any dog rescue organization in the area. Also, I would recommend to the management that he be asked to leave the resort. He didn't put it on again while he stayed there.

It should be considered abuse if used on any living thing. Those collars are not necessary and they are abusive.

We put our pets in a cage, make them sleep in the garage, tether them...any of those would rightfully be considered child abuse if administered to humans. We don't use shock collars but they are common and can be useful.

The closest thing to a cage that they see is a pet carrier to transport them.

I'm kind of glad she did. It is odd, though, isn't it? It looks like something a person wouldn't need advice on before turning him in.

what would happen if the pastor advised against it? ...any rational mother would not have to even think- it would be instinct to protect her child, there should be no time to "talk" to someone and get their advice

all too often, it doesn't work out that way. Far too many look the other way and allow it, sadly.

Why on earth did she need another man's advice in order to decide what was best for her child?
