Prosecutors: Mom of 4 raped sleeping man in West Seattle

SEATTLE -- Police have issued an arrest warrant for Chantae Marie Gilman, a mother of four who prosecutors believe raped a man as he slept in West Seattle.

The victim told police he went to bed in his home the night before the assault and woke up to find Gilman, a stranger, on top of him. He demanded she move, but she refused, and continued to have sex with the victim until he could work his way free.

"From a statistical standpoint, yes, it is atypical to have a female aggressor," said Detective Drew Fowler, with the Seattle Police Department, "but we work to hold all people responsible for their actions. The law is specifically written to be gender-equitable and we will charge anybody with a crime that they've committed."

Staff at Harborview Medical Center examined the victim for signs of rape after the June 2013 incident. Investigators later used a sample of Gilman's DNA to build their case, according to court documents. Lab results were not completed until this summer, a representative for the county prosecutor said.

Or maybe I'm just a really light sleeper. There is no way someone could get on top of me while I am asleep without me immediately waking up.

my mom would send a 75 lb husky and a 100 lb malamute to jump on me to wake me up since things like the alarm or her yelling at me weren't quite cutting it. I don't always sleep well, but I have been known to sleep through an awful lot when I can really settle in.

2. I've heard of this before. Men may not want to have sex but a part of their mind says "Yes"

...You WILL have an erection.
That's all I know.

But heard many too accounts of inconveniently timed erections to believe that physical arousal must mean voluntary agreement.

Throw her ass in jail and throw away the key. Rapists deserve the full punishment, regardless of their gender.

10. This incident won't be recorded as a rape by the FBI

It will be recorded as "other sexual assault".

Bear this in mind when you read FBI statistics indicating that rape of men is comparatively rare, and that female perpetrators of rape are nearly nonexistent.
