It's looking pretty clear that, by numerous accounts, Bristol Palin assaulted a man because he was about to stop sister Willow from assaulting his wife. She didn't just punch him, she did so six times and charges MIGHT yet be filed. In the meantime, Palin is involved in a nasty custody dispute with young Tripp's father, Levi Johnston.

Now, if reports are correct that she took her son to a party at 11pm, where there were drugs (based on some reports), alcohol and violent outburst that included the "born again virgin", Mr. Johnston may decide to bring that to the court's attention andMs. Palin and family may have to testify under oath about what happened that night. Now, what I don't know is whether testismony is public in custody fights? if so, and it plays out the way I think it plays out, the Wasilla Hillbillies will have to admit what a group of thugs they all are.

(12,041 posts)I would love to see them on the hot seat, but I highly doubt they would be honest just because they are under oath.

(6,719 posts)I find it impossible to understand McCain making the decision to choose Palin on the basis of a short conversation and the fact that he was pissed off at his handlers for not letting him choose Leiberman. We were saved from an old man who makes bad decision even now.

(6,913 posts)The court might well seal it because courts do not favor matters concerning children being publicized, for the sake of the child.
But boy, this could be juicy.

(7,720 posts)double jeopardy is applicable in this case since it has not yet been entered into the local justice system.

(11,175 posts)The OP's headline is using the term to mean that Bristol Palin might face legal problems on two different fronts (criminal prosecution and child custody).
In law, however, it refers to a specific oppressive tactic used by overreaching governments. It has sometimes happened that a defendant is prosecuted but, to the state's dismay, is acquitted. The state, unfazed, simply tries again with another prosecution for the same offense. This is double jeopardy. It's prohibited in the Bill of Rights and in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
This correction means only that the term shouldn't be applied to Bristol Palin's troubles.
I wasn't trying to be legally correct in terminology. I cleared up the title.

(53,661 posts)Not proper parenting to have the child involved in a violent affair.
But not unexpected from that gang. Sarah's fame and money isn't making their lives better.
Wonder what McCain has to say about his fabulous running mate?
We sure dodged a bullet with Obama in 2008.

(273 posts)There are a lot of comments on the brawl, most of them pretty critical of them firing the "one sober person there" for telling what he observed. Its pretty amusing. https://www.facebook.com/pages/McKenna-Bros-Paving-Inc/163776963682105 Apparently they've been busy deleting negative comments but they can't quite keep up. https://www.facebook.com/michaelscott.zinsli/activity/778532352190482
