And I have to ask: who saw this coming this early? Of course, it's not significant simply because one is African American and one is a woman, but because the former was the obviously-preferable choice and the latter seems destined to be. I've lived here since the mid 90's and simply never thought we'd see a black guy or woman as President this soon, especially after George Bush took TWO terms. We were at a real danger in 2008 of having John fucking Mccain leading this country.

(45,251 posts)Thirty points ahead of Obama, with the Clinton popularity among Democrats and the supposedly unbeatable Clinton fundraising ability and organization. Yet, Reid and Kennedy backed Obama and so did voters.
During Hillary's recent book tour, her popularity ratings fell. And, once again, many Democratic voters are not ready for an anointing or a coronation, but want a hard fought, authentic primary.
So, we'll see.
