"They literally threw trash at the door and said, 'Naughty girls burn in hell'"

Catholic Group Protests 16-Year-Old’s Doughnut Shop

Tiana Ramos' Naughty Girls Donut Shop sells gourmet doughnuts like this s'mores-flavored one.

http://www.thedailymeal.com/naughty-girls-doughnut-shop-protested-catholic-group/91314

An entrepreneurial teenager in Virginia was surprised when her gourmet doughnut shop provoked outrage from a local conservative group who accused her of promoting promiscuity.

According to Mommyish, Tiana Ramos started Naughty Girls Doughnut Shop in Front Royal, Va., when she was just 16 years old. The restaurant has a rockabilly theme, with pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Bettie Page on the walls, and the logo features a 1940s-style pin-up girl drawing. But the shop’s name and aesthetic irked some locals, and within a week of the store opening someone drove by and threw garbage at the door.

“They literally threw trash at the door and said, ‘Naughty girls burn in hell,’” said Tiana’s mother, Natalie Ramos. “I started bawling, right there.”

A self-styled “Conservative Alliance” in the town has threatened a boycott, and some people have been posting negative reviews on Yelp that accused the staff of looking like “hussies.”

Hell, if some dipshit conservative throwing garbage at the door is the worst undertaking, then congrats to you kid! I'm kind of amazed that this sort has discovered the internet and made trashing this place on Yelp their thing. I mean, seriously, if you're looking to rid the world of "hussies" on the internet, yeah, this is the most bang-for-your-buck thing.

I once posted here about the bad vibes I felt in New Orleans in the French Quarter with all the bars, strip joints and drunken tourists, and I got slammed for it. I was not supposed to bring up what I felt. I was ordered to basically STFU. And I was not supposed to use the word "vibes" according to some moral policeman at DU, because I'm not a Christian, or a New Age Space Cadet, or something. I don't really know. Just a senseless attack.

I'm curious why you even made that remark. It appears the opposition to the shop was made by a conservative religious group and it's not one, I suspect, that would be at all sympathetic to women's rights. If that was a swipe at feminists here it wasn't appreciated and I hope I misread your intent.

I didn't think the person who posted that was serious and my reference was not intended to be taken literally or seriously, just as my reference to going to hell for coveting her baked goods was not intended to be taken literally or seriously.

as far as being anti-women's rights, I'll stand on my posting record.

BTW, I don't think whether something is politically incorrect as to women is determined by whether a religious group is opposing it or not. Many religious groups seem quite fine with a lot of things that I consider anti-women.

Congratulations to all involved in Naughty Girls Doughnut Shop. Screw the idiots who see Satan or criminals or both in a doughnut shop.

From the Naughty Girls site:

“We are designing our management structure so that all of our employees feel they are a key part of Naughty Girls’ success. They will be paid well, and be financially vested in our success. As we open more stores in other locations, staff from our Front Royal shop will be chosen to lead other locations.

First of all, paying employees well just has to be Satanic, and that in itself is enough to drive the crazies crazier.

The Raw Story article mentions that the staff has heard this:

Natalie Ramos said a friend and the mother of a Naughty Girls employee told her they had been asked to boycott the teen’s bakery because its logo featured a stylized devil’s tail.

LOL! Let the haters go to Hooters. I want a Chunky Monkey doughnut!
