I don't think, for example, Israel needs all the billions they get each year.

They need a time out.

Unless and until the culture of Congress moves away from it's war-loving ways (which, sadly, reflect many voters), I'm afraid we'll stay in the war business until long after both of us are dead.

Sad, isn't it?

I'd prefer we not be involved at all, but Reagan Bush Cheney drummed up this mess and left Obama the mess to clean up.

But calling this a "new war" is just a dishonest description, designed to foment outrage, IMHO.

It's not as if we are suddenly going to fight people and groups that we haven't been fighting for years.

I think your right though, the admin considers this the old war. However, air strike in Syria, to me, make this a new war.

with a new enemy and soon to be new country, Syria. It's not "outrage" when we're sending our men and women over to a foreign country to fight their wars, civil or other. That's where you lose me.

Not to oversimplify it, but these tensions aren't new.

I'm not pro-war, I'm simply saying that this is a different expression of the tensions we've been wrestling with for years.

I'm hoping it doesn't become a war, but if it does I wouldn't exactly call it "new".

These are not reconstituted and renamed enemies we fought before. This is a new organization and a new war.

We LEFT Iraq. We have gone back in against a new enemy. Quit trying to muddy the waters.

"We were always at war with Eurasia."
