I was on a facebook message board about Dinesh. His sycophants seem to think he is great and speaks the truth. I tried to discuss some points, but his supporters were jumping all over me.
Especially troubling is how conservative lackeys seem to believe hyperbola as absolute truth. If it is extreme, it's extremely truthful to them.

(53,765 posts)has even, when in college, outed a gay student.
His sycophants, and there are many on the left, need to know who he really is.
And he was found guilty and is about to go to jail for some sort of corruption.

(52,155 posts)This is a man who quite literally made his name crusading for moral (especially sexually moral) values as a college student. He has since been busted having an affair while chancellor of an evangelical Christian college and been convicted of breaking the law and lying about having broken the law but he still has people who consider him something other than the rank hypocrite he is.

(214 posts)The first sentence he said was that Obama raised the defficit, which we all know is utter bullshit. Every other sentence he said were lies as well.

(4,876 posts)might be in Jail in a few months. D'Souza claimed he was "mounting a vigorous defense. One week later the man pled guilty.
Ask his sycophants if D'Souza was a Democrat, would they still think he was "great and speaks the truth". Fact is the man is a known and provable liar. His followers are morons.

(72,790 posts)No idea who this person is.
Maybe I should be more informed, or maybe I am too busy busting my ass working to just get by.
Based on the OP, I think I am better off for not knowing who this person is.

(793 posts)"The cultural left in this country is responsible for causing 9/11 ... the cultural left and its allies in Congress, the media, Hollywood, the non-profit sector and the universities are the primary cause of the volcano of anger toward America that is erupting from the Islamic world."
Considering its Dinesh, we should question whether or not he mistakenly forgot to include black people as responsible for causing 9/11 or whether he includes blacks implicitly in the Cultural Left.
ETA...a nice warm bed with his dream date Ann Coulter awaits him in Hell!

(40,416 posts)I absolutely love Christopher Hitchens, one of the nicest people in the new atheist movement. He truly was gracious and polite, but he did not suffer fools kindly.
My favorite example of that is what he said on Jerry Falwell's death. "If they had given him an enema, he could have been buried in a matchbox."
He delivers the money line on Hannity:
And Colmes:
His book, god is not Great has got to be the best religion polemic of all time, eclipsing even Thomas Paine (of whom Hitchens wrote a biography!). During his book tour he insisted on going through the US Bible Belt, where he debated theists at nearly every stop. Many of these are available on line. What is a bit astounding is that these debates were often to packed houses and that the theist would often ask Hitchens to repeat the debate in order to bring it to more people. He accommodated them at more than one occasion.
My favorite interview with Hitchens is on the Skeptics Guide to the Universe where he breaks into baudy limericks, one of his notable abilities. Unfortunately, it is only available on the SGU uncut episodes, but well worth the couple of bucks to download it.
Hitchens will be sadly missed. He was one of a kind.

Unlike trolls, D'Souza followers believe every word they say.

Got started on the Dartmouth Review (one of the college-newspaper farm teams brought to you by the National Review), and quickly built a nest for himself within the packed-dung walls of the conservative bullshit machine.
Most of the time, however, I have a more Randian view of him: I don't think of him at all.
