No, the Vikings did not actually say that, I was being rhetorical after just hearing the breaking news that Peterson will return to the field to prepare and play in next Sunday's game.

Whatever support he had
was nothing compared to the outcry against him.
There will always be folks on either side of controversy, but that doesn't mean the sheer numbers are equivalent. As you can see they are not.
Perhaps credit is due to the fans of the the most popular spectator sport in America.

He won't be playing this week.
