Palin attacks picture of Obama family pet.

Now, however, it seems that President Obama just isn’t invested in American Christmas traditions enough.

From radio.foxnews.coms’ Todd Starnes (emphasis mine):

The official White House holiday card makes no mention of the word ‘Christmas’ and instead focused on Bo the First Dog based on the wishes of the First Family.

“From our family to yours, may your holidays shine with the light of the season,” read the inside of the card, featuring the presidential seal.

The front of the card features Bo the First Dog lounging by a fireplace. Holiday greenery is draped over the fireplace mantle. Holiday presents are placed on a table underneath a poinsettia – instead of a Christmas tree.

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin told Fox News & Commentary that she found the card to be a bit unusual.

“It’s odd,” she said, wondering why the president’s Christmas card highlights his dog instead of traditions like “family, faith and freedom.”

Palin said the majority of Americans can appreciate the more traditional, “American foundational values illustrated and displayed on Christmas cards and on a Christmas tree.”

As for the Obama card, she replied, “It’s just a different way of thinking coming out of the White House.”

she'd bitch about what they were wearing, how they were sitting, and whether or not the tree looked a little lopsided.

Some people spend their lives looking for things to be offended over. She's one of them.

26. Most "Christmas" traditions were actually ways to make pagans conform
Thu Dec 22, 2011, 08:28 AM
Dec 2011

to Christianity...Christmas tree since pagans worshipped trees, mistletoe because Druids used it to poison their human sacrifices (and it also tied into the sexual elements of Saturnalia) and presents because it too tied into Saturnalia (a Roman week-long "spring break" type celebration that concluded on 12/25 with a murder of some innocent man or woman). Santa Claus, based on St. Nicholas and the cult who worshipped him...

Yes, it's quite obvious these folks that are crying there's a war on Christmas don't care too much for history. If they really looked into its origins, they would quickly claim that celebrating Christmas is a very non-Christian thing to do. It's almost like worshipping false idols and I know that's forbidden by the Christian religion.

"Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O House of Israel: Thus saith the LORD, learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain; for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not."

And just FYI, Sarah, apparently (and I just learned this cause I'm a heathen) poinsettia's are symbols of Christmas and Jesus' birth and crucifixion.

Not like we're keeping score but I think the Obama Christmas card is more Christian than your idea "American foundational values."
