http://thefreethoughtproject.com/st-louis-county-prosecutor-mcculloch-raising-money-darren-wilson/Backstoppers, an organization that McCulloch is the listed as vice president of, has a board that includes a circuit attorney and a city judge.
However, according to stltoday.com, McCulloch is now currently the President.
McCulloch joined former St. Louis County Police Chief Ron Battelle in accepting a $292,000 check from the 27th annual Budweiser Guns N Hoses event earlier today at city hall in St. Louis. McCulloch also will be serving as president of the board for Backstoppers in the 50th anniversary year of his fathers death.
An I Support Darren Wilson t-shirt being sold on tee-spring has surfaced on social media, with half of the proceeds going to Darren Wilsons GoFundMe, and the other half going to Backstoppers.

(7,318 posts)at the top of their homepage. Anyone could have set up that t-shirt page without their knowledge or approval. If they are not accepting funds from that source though, I think they would be contacting the website owner to tell them to remove the item due to unlawful use of the BackStopper name.
What I find problematic, is that a prosecutor, whose job it is to depend on evidence gathered by the police in order to prosecute every single one of his cases, is on the board of directors for an org whose sole purpose is to benefit police and their families.
Because of the ever present conflict of interest, I think all cases involving the possible prosecution of a police officer should by law require the hiring of a special prosecutor.

(7,318 posts)I think the SLC prosecutor is biased, undoubdedly, but I doubt that a 55 year old charitable organization would put their reputation on the line for one hugely controversial police officer whose actions are under investigation by the DOJ.

(3,208 posts)extra help. I certainly do not think wilson would qualify for help from them.
It is surprising to hear McCullough has such a spot on the board. That does seem odd, not just because of conflict of interest, but he has a pretty big job in St. Louis county, and I would think Backstoppers would need someone with more of a time commitment (even though I guess some board seats are somewhat "ornamental" .

(16,067 posts)I predict that even if an indictment comes down(and I have serious doubts that it will), McCulloch will figure out an excuse not to prosecute Wilson.

(3,366 posts)Now she is up to some shenanigans regarding a meeting about Ferguson, and not inviting William Clay, the district's Congressional representative, who thinks McCulloch should be removed from the case.
I am PROUD to say Clay is also MY rep, and I trust him implicitly. I can't say I feel the same way about McCaskill.
http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/clay-mccaskill-spar-over-invite-to-ferguson-meeting/article_27f585e7-10a8-5461-a5b6-8db9e69de663.html
But a Nixon spokesman said the meeting idea was McCaskill's, and that the governor told McCaskill that Clay should be invited. A Clay spokesman said Friday that Nixon's version was the correct one and that Clay had not been invited.
Clay told journalist Lauren Victoria Burke of Crewof42.com that "I find it very disrespectful, I find it a typical Claire move, and I don't understand what kind of game she is playing."
Later, he told Burke: "All I can do is speculate that she is going to convince the attendees at the meeting on Monday that her friend, Bob McCulloch, the St. Louis County prosecutor, needs to stay in the position and finish the case."
