According to a new Harris Poll, most Americans would probably not vote for a Muslim presidential candidate. Pluralities say the same about transgender, gay, atheist or agnostic candidates. And, for some reason, Millennials have a real problem with Mormons.
Among those polled, 52 percent say theyd be either not that likely or not at all likely to consider voting for a Muslim candidate, while only 28 percent who would be very or somewhat likely to do so. When asked about voting for a transgender individual, 48 percent responded not that likely or not at all likely, while 34 percent who would be at least somewhat likely to do so. For atheist or agnostic candidates, the percentages were 45 percent and 39 percent, respectively.

(29,503 posts)Mormons do not believe in the Trinity, for example, which is just about as bedrock a principle of Christianity as belief that Jesus was divine.

(25,406 posts)Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints unequivocally affirm themselves to be Christians. They worship God the Eternal Father in the name of Jesus Christ. When asked what the Latter-day Saints believe, Joseph Smith put Christ at the center: The fundamental principles of our religion is the testimony of the apostles and prophets concerning Jesus Christ, that he died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended up into heaven; and all other things are only appendages to these, which pertain to our religion.1 The modern-day Quorum of the Twelve Apostles reaffirmed that testimony when they proclaimed, Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come.

(29,503 posts)Knee-jerk 'traditional values' conservative Republican subscribers. THAT'S why Millenials have a big problem with Mormon candidates. Actually, that's why MOST people have a problem with Mormon candidates.

(15,189 posts)No one should know what religion you belong to. And none of our representatives should be able to talk about their religion. We don't ask candidates what sexual position they prefer, and religion should have the same taboo. I'm not saying to hide it entirely, just when on the clock. And if you don't like the rules, don't run for office. I hope some day we will have an Atheist President. That would include no Christmas decorations either at the white house.

Never gonna' happen.
As far as Christmas decorations, just how far are we supposed to go to rid our country of every bit of culture we have. Surely, Christmas is a big part of our culture.
