You can sure tell I live in Florida. You probably can't read all the stickers but believe me...it's straight from Fox News.

(10,201 posts)Make sure to tell that to the emergency responders when they have to shovel someone off the pavement because you were only telling your phone to take a picture.

(10,201 posts)He was paying attention to his phone and not the road. We were all at a complete stop, when he suddenly just started driving right at me. He was holding his phone up right in front of himself and staring at the screen. Don't know what he was staring at, but it was not traffic. I ended up bailing out onto the shoulder. Then when he now had a truck directly in front of him, he stopped.
All I am saying is that it's not safe. Period.

(25,348 posts)I don't talk on the phone...except when I'm stopped.
I don't take pictures with the phone ...except when I'm stopped.
I don't let my girlfriend ...ah...well.. forget that.
Geez...give me credit for having SOME sense and caring about other people. The phone goes down to the seat, I check the surroundings and THEN my foot comes off the brake. That's the way I drive...and my record shows it.

(10,201 posts)using the phone at a stop light as well.
It's not what has happened to me in the past that concerns me. I tend to be forward looking, and would not want someone to be unnecessarily hurt because someone cannot leave their phone alone for more than 3 minutes while they are in operation of a 4,000lb automobile. Everyone who admits to using their phone while operating a vehicle, for whatever reason, always seems to have an excuse to justify why they are the exception to the rule, and that their superior driving skills and phone practices are actually in no way ever going to cause harm.

(25,348 posts)You would be best to try for "may not use while driving" first.
I'd go along with that.
I respect your thoughts on the subject but disagree with part of them.

(12,132 posts)maybe he drove into a ditch - but there was a guy in truck covered in racist, KKK, anti-Obama stickers. Regardless what you think of BHO right now, he never deserved the shit on this guy's truck. The sticker I remember most was three white-hooded caricatures and the slogan "The ORIGINAL Boys in the hood".
I had to go to Pensacola last week for work and somewhere between Ocala and Gainesville there was a billboard that just said STOP OBAMA and had the name of some local religious entity. It was dated 2012 though so all I could think was

(16,377 posts)Some RWNJ (or there are plenty around there) took their Gwen Graham sign down, torn it in half then thew it in their yard. It's a rural area. My sis and BIL put another sign up and rigged one of their motion-sensor, infrared, wildlife cameras up to catch the perp.
