ok, not nearly as sexy as the looming Democratic primaries but what are YOUR thoughts?

(53,743 posts)LBJ's Great Society programs made bold inroads in reducing the poverty rate (google it), so much so that it alarmed the repugs and they put all their efforts into dismantling its programs one by one, just as they've been trying to get rid of FDR's New Deal programs since they were installed.
I would only add that they have done everything in their power to wage a war against the impoverished

(30,884 posts)Rates of poverty and levels of relative poverty dropped. Unfortunately, it was replace by the War on the Poor, which is also a big success.

(43,867 posts)Just completely slayed a Republican on facebook regarding Medicare in particular and the war on poverty in general. Presently he's busy editing his posts and firing off reply after reply (10 so far) trying to deny reality. They won't be answered. My work there is done.

(65,616 posts)I would say from the Ownership's POV...the war on the poor AND middle class has been a smashing success! Inequality is off the charts.
