No, seriously. Look around. Scrape some of the "party loyalty uber alles" goop out of your eyes and look what some of the people around here are posting, what they're engaged in, what their positions and principles are.

Anyone who is anti-left falls into the rubric of "right-wing" for me. Those who bang drums of war, as well. Anyone who cannot wrap their minds around social issues, and rather than try to learn, just attacks the concepts.

It's an exceptionally functional definition. It just has the unfortunate side effect of exposing just how far to the right the Democratic party and its unswerving, unprincipled loyalists have lurched.

The party has been pushed so far right that there are tons of people who consider themselves 'solid Democrats', yet hold a hell of a lot of RW positions when it comes to things like foreign policy, 'security', the economy, gun control, and even race and gender-related issues. And then, when you point out those are RW ideas, proclaim that they really are Dems, that you're just an 'extremist' or 'fringe'.

DU is a big place and there is plenty of room for all kinds of pro-liberal, pro-progressive discussion. This includes critiques of Hillary Clinton and President Obama when they do not act in the best interest of the American people.

17. The GOP stopped being the enemy here ...
Wed Sep 17, 2014, 03:26 AM
Sep 2014

... years ago.

The Democrats took their place as those to be maligned, unrelentingly criticized, perceived as the enemy of the people, their every statement to be taken out of context, their every move to be second-guessed as being something nefarious, their message to be found wanting, their goals to be acknowledged as inadequate, their spokes-persons to be seen as consistent liars, their every move to be wanting, their every idea to be disparaged as meaningless, their every action to be taken as too little too late, or too much too soon.

DU has become the best lil' RW whorehouse in Texas - and the other 49 states as well - where so-called Democrats can pretend they're screwing some Republican whore, while they're actually fucking their own party.

This post will undoubtedly earn me a "hide" - and I will take pride in having earned it.

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

Agree with it or not, DU doesn't need this kind of post. Way over the line. Give the poster what they asked for.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed Sep 17, 2014, 06:32 AM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: it seems like someone just can't handle the truth here. Everyone had a blast kicking the chimpster around, but can't grasp that many of his same policies are still in effect, while others have even worsened! Dems aren't above being put down too, if they earned it/
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I refuse to hide the truth.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: She's right, you know.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: There is some truth in this post. The alerter needs to get a thicker skin.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Nance is stating the obvious.

Real Democrats understand that endless austerity for the 99%, unprecedented bailouts for the 1%, attempting to cut Social Security and Medicare, implementing the TPP and other free trade agreements, and Operation Spy On Everyone Because Terra! are exactly the platform that Democrats ran on, and exactly the platform America needs.

Everyone agrees that they suck, so there's not much discussion. There are, however, two groups of DUers that are constantly at odds, which is why those threads stay kicked longer. The groups are the "principles before party" Dems and the "We'll get more of what we want by supporting the party no matter what" Dems.

Yes, I know there are people who hate Hillary or Obama worse than they hate Ted Cruz, Mitch McTurtle, Charles and David Koch, Karl Rove, Sheldon Adelson, Pat Robertson, Sean Hannity, Marco Rubio, Louie Gohmert or Rand Paul. Some of them even claim to be Democrats. They can claim to be the Dalai Lama, for all I care.

They just don't have a message to which I give any kind of priority (let alone credence) right now--not less than two months before the 2014 midterms, where the balance of the Senate is in peril.

Hillary herself is responsible for the early start of the primary season. Her own coy little self.
So - primary season - were we REALLY supposed to start the acceptance this early? That is not going to work, and IMO all the smug accusations that if you don't love Hillary you are a GOP plant - going to bite 'em in the ass, and is a really piss-poor way of trying to dredge up support. This is Democratic Underground, not Hillary Underground.
I do notice that anything Bernie or Liz says or does that might be on one of Hillary's pages is promptly posted.
All that is left is to declare hating the TPP a "pony" or merely a trivial personal wish.

After all it was the Confederacy that was at fault. Lincoln should have cut the crap, and not have been focused on his poor Union generals who faced an enemy the likes of which had never been seen before.

Clearly, Lincoln was a paid disrupting ratf%^*er.

and commit to some issues. I will vote for the candidate that best represents my families interests at the end of the primary, if one exists. So far the only potential candidates who have spoken out on any relative issues concerning the middle class have been Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.
Hillary, who I voted for in 2008 has received a 6 figure paycheck to let Goldman Sachs know she has their back while "we" are being told to shut up and elect more democrats.

I will not vote for candidates that I do not support in the primary or general elections. I will leave portion of the ballot unchecked if necessary.

The party is in wretched shape.
