ISIS Message Board Encourages Times Square Attack

A post on an online message board for Islamic State sympathizers encourages would-be terrorists to attack tourist hot spots in the United States, — and Times Square is the top target.

The post is titled “To the Lone Wolves in America: How to Make a Bomb in Your Kitchen, to Create Scenes of Horror in Tourist Spots and Other Targets.” It includes bomb-making instructions and a list of ingredients, even how to pack it with shrapnel, WCBS 880’s Rich Lamb reported.

Other American tourist spots are also on the threat list, including the Las Vegas Strip.

“This is a new world, if you will, or the evolving world of terrorism, and we’re staying ahead of it,” NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said Tuesday. “We’ve been focused on it, and I believe that we are as prepared as any entity could be to deal with the threats.”

NYC is an ideal place to attack: center of commerce, lots of people in close proximity, tunnels that if closed can severely impact flow into and out of Manhattan, lots of news media to record and transmit the carnage - and it's been done before.

I'd go for the subways during morning commute hours, a la the Madrid and London attacks: I'm a little surprised someone hasn't tried it already (or maybe they did and we just haven't heard).

but they're hardly the only group encouraging attacks like this. We have our own home grown right wing types not only encouraging shit like this but actually doing it.

You seem to think that ISIS poses some unique, imminent real threat to us here in the U.S. There is NO indication that that is true. To the contrary, officials have said they know of know plan by ISIS to attack the U.S.

...bankruptcy, bleed our treasury and national soul, and finish what Bin Laden started. They want bait the US into self destruction.

They don't give a rats ass how much we bomb and slaughter them in the process. Theirs is a cosmic war. They want to die. We need to just get the fuck out of the middle east, period.

An upstate New York man accused of plotting to kill members of the U.S. military and others faces new charges that he tried to aid the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.

Mufid Elfgeeh, 30, of Rochester, was indicted by a federal grand jury on three counts of attempting to provide material support and resources to the group that has been designated by the U.S. as a foreign terrorist organization, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.

According to court documents, Elfgeeh tried to assist three individuals in traveling to Syria to join and fight with the extremist group in 2013 and early 2014. Prosecutors said two of the individuals were cooperating with the FBI.

"Disrupting and holding accountable those who seek to provide material support to foreign terrorist organizations is and shall remain a critical national security priority," said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Carlin.

You have used some out there sources to find things to drum up support for attacking them. Are you really scared of them, or are you pro-war? Were you a fan of the Iraq/AF/Pak wars as well?

I'm not trying to call you out, but you seem super gung ho to get into another messy, complicated conflict.

The only power that ISIS/L has today is the power that is given it by people who are scared of them. So far the only thing they have been able to manage to do is cut the heads off three people with US/Western connections. That is a very limited and low tech reach. Terrorists use violence and the fear of violence to accomplish their political goals. Giving them more credit than they deserve only suits to further their cause. Right now it appears that their cause is to drag us into another murky conflict. Stop helping them.
